No motorcycle transmissions?

edit

This list seems to only concentrate on cars... but the first time the Hondamatic name was used was with a similarly unique scooter transmission, and was re-used for applications of the N360/S500/etc model in motorcycles. No data about those?

Also re: the original Hondamatic, is it supposed to say that the stator reaction arm increases pressure when the stator is stalled, or the rotor? Normally it's the latter that stalls, after all in most conventional torque converters the stator is, as its name suggests, completely static, but it doesn't really matter if it spins or not anyway; it's the output rotor that's important, as if that stalls, it means the car isn't going anywhere despite the power input from the engine, and that's when you need extra torque multiplication to get it moving again. (Also, the design suggests that the stator only moves slightly anyway, when not being allowed to freewheel, presumably for better economy when idling or in lockup? The reaction force being how much it pushes against the sprung hydraulic-control arm, rather than how quickly it's spinning, probably moving back and forth by only a matter of thirty degrees or so...) 146.199.0.170 (talk) 19:35, 13 October 2018 (UTC)Reply
