This is important information about Old Catholic Churches. This contain was in the Old Catholic Church article for half years, but user:Hmwith deleted it, because "Wikipedia is not a directory of links". okay, I see. I think exist other church list in wikipedia, this list why not?

Dominican Section

I added back the entry deleted 14:58, 5 January 2015‎ by BishopMichaelOPI. Bishop Michael left the order to form his own and had no right to delete or modify the existing entry. Much of the contents on background and context here could well be merged with Independent Catholicism, and plain list data with List of Christian denominations#Independent Catholicism comme-il-faut. Problems

This article has glaring problems:

1. Not limited to notable organizations. This is not necessarily a problem in itself, but combined with the rest, it means trouble.
2. Largely unsourced. There needs to be a citation for each list item that indicates its identification or association with Independent Catholicism.
3. Organized by stance on sexuality. Is there some rationale for singling out this set of traits? Once again, where are the WP:RS indicating where they might belong? Given the fluidity of doctrine in this movement... how long have they been classified this way, and how long has it been since anyone checked if they still belonged there? 2600:8800:1880:9A3:5604:A6FF:FE38:4B26 (talk) 01:56, 13 January 2019 (UTC)

"Catholic"

@Veverve: My understanding is that the Roman Catholic Church is located at Catholic Church and the broader meaning is covered at Catholic (term), so the latter is the relevant target. Is this incorrect? – Scyrme (talk) 23:20, 16 December 2022 (UTC)

@Scyrme: The term 'Catholic' refers to the much broader meaning of the word. Catholicism refers to the specific Christian faith and tradition found within Western Christianity. There is no equivalent to the article Eastern Orthodoxy for Catholicism. Veverve (talk) 23:28, 16 December 2022 (UTC)

@Veverve: How about Catholicity? It describes itself: "This article is about the body of beliefs which are described as "catholic"." That seems more appropriate than targeting the Roman Catholic Church, which these churches are not a part of. – Scyrme (talk) 00:10, 17 December 2022 (UTC)

Most Christian denominations claim catholicity, not only those who claim to be of Catholic heritate without being in communion with the Holy See (e.g., not only Sedevacantists, the SSPX, or the Ukrainian Orthodox Greek Catholic Church; indeed, most Lutherans and Calvinists, as well as the Eastern Orthodox Church, also claim to have catholicity). Yes, and this is explained at Catholicity § Independent Catholicism and Catholicity § Denominational interpretations. Linking to this information is more helpful than sending people to the article about the Church which is in communion the Holy See.

Another option which would be more helpful would be to link to Independent Catholicism § Appeal of Independent Catholicism to Catholic and Christian tradition. If you feel the explanation there is better, it may linked instead. – Scyrme (talk) 14:43, 17 December 2022 (UTC)
