editThe links to Geist and Castleton go to articles unrelated to the neighborhoods. I suggest that seperate Geist (Indianapolis) and Castleton (Indianapolis) articles be made.
Article was merged without discussion as explained on template
editI reverted it back due to the fact that the article was previously merged without discussion (against Wiki policy). However, after a real consensus, if discussed and approved, the article will be merged to Indianapolis. --Moreau36 23:19, 20 July 2006 (UTC)
Indianapolis Expansion
edit- Could a neighborhood template be created similar to the Philadelphia Neighborhoods? See Template:WPhila
- Could the Old Northside be considered a neighborhood?
- I added the Morris-Butler House article after taking a 1 hour tour. If anyone has more in depth info please edit.

- Actually I already created a neighborhood template. I am in the process of adding information to some of the neighborhood articles. Wikichange 18:30, 13 October 2006 (UTC)
I re-added Historic Meridian Park. Not sure why it was deleted in the past. I think that this should be a part of the Indianapolis page.Ricardisimo 17:27, 20 October 2006 (UTC)
Old Northside IS an historic neighborhood in Downtown Indianapolis. I know - I live there. We were recognized by the Indianapolis Historic Preservation Commission as a a cultural treasure in 1987, for pete's sake. We're governed by strict laws on historic preserviation.
I attempted to enter information about it at one point, but all of my work was deleted. Still waiting for and explanation for that. Electrasteph (talk) 13:54, 7 May 2008 (UTC)
- Hmm, still waiting? There is an article Old Northside Historic District, hopefully you found your way to that.
- Anyhow, this list-article lacks any references. Is there a system of official neighborhoods for the city? It would be useful to have an official partition for use in classifying locations of historic sites in National Register of Historic Places listings in Indianapolis, Indiana. doncram (talk) 18:18, 29 May 2009 (UTC)

subdivisions
edit@Indyguy: Thank you for your recent edits. I am just wondering your source for the subdivisions/districts and population columns. Also, do you think the subdivisions are encyclopedic? --Lasunncty (talk) 05:19, 25 November 2021 (UTC)
- @Lasunncty: Actually, all I did was a cleanup edit after @IndyTaylor: did all the work, so the thanks should go to him. As far as the subdivisions being encyclopedic, I don't really know. Obviously the neighborhoods that have articles are notable, and there might be others that warrant articles. The source is the city itself, so for completeness it makes sense to include them, and could be useful to someone living in Indianapolis, even if the rest of the world probably doesn't care. Indyguy (talk) 05:32, 25 November 2021 (UTC)
- Ah, sorry, that should have been directed to IndyTaylor. But thank you as well, Indyguy! --Lasunncty (talk) 05:37, 25 November 2021 (UTC)
- Thank you both for the recognition, @Indyguy: and @Lasunncty:. To answer Lascunncty's first question, The Polis Center's IndyVitals, produced through SAVI, is the source for the population figures. Information on data sources and vetting can be accessed here. I do apologize for not sourcing the population data, yet, as I anticipated completing this in one or two days (needless to say, it's taken longer than anticipated). Your second question is a valid one worth debate. In typical American cities, the inclusion of subdivisions would be non-notable. Due to Indianapolis' expansive land area (consolidated with Marion County), the city's population is quite spread out, with the majority of citizens residing in rather nondescript tract housing subdivisions with various names. Outside of the city's dense core, "neighborhood areas" cover large swaths of the city's low-dense and even rural areas. IMO, subdivisions within those areas can help define what is otherwise rather indistinguishable. I'll hold off on any further additions to that column, subject to consensus, but will move ahead with completing populations and sourcing. Thanks! IndyTaylor (talk) 01:54, 26 November 2021 (UTC)
