In 2007, Yiddish studies professor Boris Kotlerman of Bar-Ilan University facilitated The First Birobidzhan International Summer Program for Yiddish Language and Culture. [1] Kotlerman's program included a tour of Waldheim (Jewish Autonomous Oblast). [2] Yiddish is still the region’s second official language after Russian, although it is spoken only by a handful of the 4,000 remaining Jews. [3] Culturalrevival 03:34, 21 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
