The rank is outdated as the new person who rank number 8 should be mr najib razak, PM of malaysia, who has a net worth of 2.6b ringgit. Source of wealth - generous donation.
MACC states that MYR2.6billion was put into a personal account owned by Najib Razak and that the funds were donations by parties yet-to-be revealed. As Najib is the owner of the account and not a trustee, he would be the beneficial owner of any funds placed in the account, regardless of the intended eventual use of funds. Even if the funds are intended for eventual use as funding for a political party, for the period they are in a personal account they should be considered to contribute to the net worth of the owner of the personal account. An analogy is how Warren Buffett's net worth includes fortune that he has committed to eventually give to charity as he remains the beneficial owner of the fortune until the donation is transacted or placed in trust that is not controlled by Buffet.
So I would recommend including Najib Razak in the ranking until such time the money in his account is transferred out.
Not done: Well, your first problem with this is that MYR2.6 billion works out to about US$640 million, which doesn't make the list. However, setting that aside - While I agree that the referenced article states he received MYR2.6 billion, turning that into a statement about his net worth is a bit of a stretch. For one thing, we have no way of knowing when the money is transferred out of his account. For another we have no way of knowing what debts he may have that could reduce his net worth. Provide a source that directly discusses his net worth and places it at over US$1 billion, and this can be reconsidered. ‑‑ElHef (Meep?) 18:49, 14 August 2015 (UTC)Reply
