Sophie
editI think we should add a description for Sophie as she will likely be in the running for Dominant Female and she is now shown often as a baby sitter. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.105.187.233 (talk) 18:54, 7 August 2008 (UTC)
- No, we do not add based on possible future notability. -- AnmaFinotera (talk · contribs) 19:10, 7 August 2008 (UTC)
- Well Sophie is now a Meerkat shown in almost every episode and has been in the storyline since season 2. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.105.179.20 (talk) 03:34, 11 August 2008 (UTC)
- Being shown and briefly mentioned, no matter how many seasons, does not make her notable. -- AnmaFinotera (talk · contribs) 03:45, 11 August 2008 (UTC)
Guys,Zaphod has sadly died today. He was 13 years old. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.244.22.68 (talk) 21:31, 6 March 2011 (UTC)
With the end of series 4, I now agree that Sophie should have her own section. However, as this is a featured list, it must be well sourced and well done before being added. We need to make a list of episodes she appeared in, especially her first appearance, and what was revealed about her in each episode. The episode list doesn't mention her name until the 3rd series, which I suspect was not her first appearance. If someone can help get that info together, I'll draft and write up the section for her. A section can not be added without the sources or it will threaten the featured status of the list. -- AnmaFinotera (talk · contribs) 01:58, 23 August 2008 (UTC)
Sophie fist appeared as a pup and then as a babysitter in season 1. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 190.247.121.78 (talk) 20:40, 11 January 2010 (UTC)
- Need specific episodes. -- AnmaFinotera (talk · contribs) 21:08, 11 January 2010 (UTC)
A few ideas
edit- The following discussion is closed. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section.
I propose that we split this article into Meerkats that are alive, and ones that are deceased, believed to be deceased, or missing. It is sort of confusing with deceased Meerkats descriptions being mixed in with those meerkats who are alive and well.
I also would like to suggest that we add a spolier warning at the top of the page. (I know that this issue came up with Flower's death, and people refused to put one up even though such a warning wouldn't hurt, while lack of one could). I know that most of the descriptions have information about already-aired episodes, but things such as Rocket Dog's TOTALLY UNNATURAL (even though the researchers have the nerve to say that everything is completely the way it would be without them there) death, which hasn't yet been aired, could be a spoiler to some viewers. Thanks, 67.185.45.50 (talk) 07:56, 24 August 2008 (UTC)
- No and no. Both go against Wikipedia guidelines. Remember, Wikipedia is not a fansite and it is not a spoiler free zone. We do not add "spoiler warnings" to articles, period. If someone comes here, they should expect to see spoilers. If they don't want to read spoilers, they shouldn't look up encyclopedia articles about the series. Also, we do not sort out the dead and the living in any such articles. They are arranged by their group, a neutral, useful sorting. No additional lists will be created and such a split is just another way of trying to hide spoilers. This list is a featured list because it is well-crafted, well-sourced, and well-formed, and it will remain that way. -- AnmaFinotera (talk · contribs) 07:59, 24 August 2008 (UTC)
- Every time someone suggests something, you say no. If the article never changes, how will the article ever improve? Why does only your opinion matter anyway? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.185.45.50 (talk) 22:24, 25 August 2008 (UTC)
- The article does change in appropriate ways. And I say no because they are ideas that are fan-based, not ideas that are within the editing guidelines. My opinion isn't the only one that matters, but they are actually based on how Wikipedia articles work, not just fanlove for the series and are supported by extensive experience. -- AnmaFinotera (talk · contribs) 22:39, 25 August 2008 (UTC)
I wasnt suggesting as a fan either. First, it's wikipedia- we're all about not being confusing and after reading alive meerkat-dead meerkat-alive meerkat, i get confused. second, why should someone expect it to be spoiled for them just because it's wikipedia? should someone reading about the life of houdini on wikipedia expect to have the secrets of his magic tricks spoiled, too?67.185.45.50 (talk) 04:05, 26 August 2008 (UTC)
- Because this is an encyclopedia, not a teaser guide. And yes, on Houdini, as well. Its an encyclopedia. See WP:SPOILER. There is a reason all spoiler templates were deleted. And there is nothing to be confused about. The list doesn't say "this is a list of living meerkats" it says it a list of meerkats that appeared in the series. Interestingly, your idea of separating dead from alive would be a much bigger spoiler, more blatantly obvious than anything written here. -- AnmaFinotera (talk · contribs) 04:14, 26 August 2008 (UTC)
I said already that it wasn't about spoilers. Imagine reading a list of previous countries, mixed among still existing countries. After a while, you're like "wait, what countries are still there again?" It's about clarity, not spoilers. And I'm not saying we should put spoiler warnings up, but I don't think we should put a whole bunch of un-needed spoilers up, just because we don't do spoiler warnings. That's sort of taking advantage of it. There really is no need for you to be so possesive of this article. It isn't "your" article, you know.67.185.45.50 (talk) 08:39, 26 August 2008 (UTC)
- Um, we have those. It has nothing to do with clarity. And no, there won't be any spoiler warnings NOR will spoilers be removed. Live with it or don't read the list. And no, it isn't "my" article, but as I'm the one who wrote most of it and took it to FL status, I will guard it from bad editing and fancrufting. -- AnmaFinotera (talk · contribs) 13:52, 26 August 2008 (UTC)
- I'm not saying we shouldn't have spoilers, but we shouldn't have spoilers if they aren't necesary. That's putting spoilers up because you like spoiling it, not to help the article. And even if you did make it FL status, you're still acting possesive of the article. ONE CHANGE isn't going to ruin the article.67.185.45.50 (talk) 02:42, 27 August 2008 (UTC)
- We do not have spoilers that are not "necessary." Again, this is an encyclopedia. Each notable meerkat and group has appropriate, reliably sourced, encyclopedic coverage. And yes, those suggested changes would ruin the list completely. And fine, you want to claim I'm possessive, I don't really care, any more than I care about the accusation that I like to spoil just to spoil. If I don't want to be spoiled on something, I avoid its wiki article. If other people don't have the good sense not to read and encyclopedic article if they don't want to be spoiled, that's their problem, not Wikipedias. There will be NO spoiler warnings, not attempts at "hiding" spoilers by moving them elsewhere, nothing. The suggested changes will not happen, so you might as well drop it already. -- AnmaFinotera (talk · contribs) 02:52, 27 August 2008 (UTC)
HOW MANY TIMES do I have to say, this isn't about hiding spoilers, it's about clarity? It's like having a list of discontinued brands jumbled with a list of current brands. You eventually can't remember which one is current and which ones are discontinued. You are really acting like this is you article, and it's not. Everyone has the right to edit this page, even if you don't like it.67.185.45.50 (talk) 23:41, 27 August 2008 (UTC)
- Yes, it is. You can wrap it up in whatever pretty words you want, but in the end, that would be the only reason to do such a thing. This list follows the format and guidelines of other well crafted character lists. We do NOT separate out the dead and living characters, period. And just because you have the right to edit the page does not mean your edits will be kept or accepted if they go against established guidelines. And as its obvious you have no intention of being productive here, I'm done answering you. -- AnmaFinotera (talk · contribs) 00:15, 28 August 2008 (UTC)
Just because you have contibuted to the article doesn't mean no one else can edit it. See wp: own. They say that if you don't expect your ideas to be edited mercilessly, don't edit. It's not about hiding spoilers, it's about making it more clear to readers which meerkats are alive and which ones are dead. If anything, that spoils it more, which should appeal to you since you love spoilers and think they're a necessary part of every article.67.185.45.50 (talk) 19:16, 28 August 2008 (UTC)
- Again, no, it is not happening. Period. Now stop trying to screw up this list by imposing your own non-neutral sorting order. We use a neutral sort order for this list. The list is a featured list because it meets all of Wikipedia's guidelines, which are set by consensus. My edits and my rejection of your ideas are based on the same and editing experience, not your obvious fan love of the series and your continued pointy remarks showing that despite your words, you do want to falsely move spoilers our of the article because you disagree with Wikipedia's consensus established decision that there IS not such thing as a spoiler here. We edit articles for accurate, up to date, factuality, period. You made a suggestion, no one supports you, it goes against the guidelines, so stop it. The edited mercilessly works both ways, including undoing bad edits. You want to actually help improve the list, help gather the info on Sophie instead of whining about spoilers and trying to cruft up the article. -- AnmaFinotera (talk · contribs) 19:20, 28 August 2008 (UTC)
KMP information
editI think that through there is not a season 5 in this moment. We have to add updated information from the KMP. That is an very realiable source. For example: when it says in the Whiskers: Dominant female: Rocket Dog Dominant male: Mitch we have to put in brackets () that as the kmp says, Thundercat and Ella are the leaders (but they are not named by mm) updated as nov.2009.
Another thing is to add that the Vivian mob died by tb and that is the true reason of because the commandoes in season 4 are played by the commandoes. Another thing is as kmp says, that the Zappa dissapeared.
Well, i only think that. It will be well for the article, to add updated and reliable information. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 190.247.121.78 (talk) 04:01, 11 January 2010 (UTC)
- No. This article is on the list of the Meerkat Manor meerkats. KMP information is used only sparingly with regards to what occurred on the series and to fill in meerkat histories. The series is over, so there are no more updates to be made. What happened after the series end is for people to look up themselves, but it is not related to the series at all. -- AnmaFinotera (talk · contribs) 04:30, 11 January 2010 (UTC)
Yes but you put updated information in Rocket Dog that was AFTER the series. I think that also in the other meerkats we have to put what are they are doing now. I dont know why we cant do that. For example, in an article if a series finish they still update info of the protagonist. In the Commandoes we have to put that the real commandoes do the season 4 because the Vivian died by tb. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 190.247.121.78 (talk) 20:26, 11 January 2010 (UTC)
- Rocket Dog's information was added because she was in the series AND the series itself noted it as well as it also made news and was connected to the series. And no, we do not "have to put" what they are doing now. The show is over. We will not continue updating every last bit about these groups ad nauseum and forever. Those interested in the research project can go to KMP to see what is going on since the series ended. There is nothing else to update here about the series meerkats as they were depicted in the series (RD was the only except, again, because Animal Planet itself made note of the news). And no, without a reliable source, we do not change anything to say anything about the Commandoes now being played by themselves because someone made the presumption based on original research. Is there an actual reliable source that states it? -- AnmaFinotera (talk · contribs) 21:07, 11 January 2010 (UTC)
The Vivian-Commandoes information is said by the KMP. Meerkat manor never mentioned Rocket Dog`s Death. I think also that is incorrect to put the dominant male-female in every mob. Because a non fan person will think that there are now that dominants when not. Also is not coherent to put Rocket Dog as dominant female when she died. The same with the Lazuli. 3 years after, there are new dominants. Cazanna died (as the article says) and Jd (was Carlos) died in the Starsky. --190.247.121.78 (talk) 18:09, 12 January 2010 (UTC)
- The information is correct per the series. This is NOT a list of the KMP meerkats, but a list of the television series meerkats. These ARE the dominants at the time the series aired and ended. And yes, Animal Planet did acknowledge Rocket Dog's death. -- AnmaFinotera (talk · contribs) 18:43, 12 January 2010 (UTC)
Animal Planet never mentioned or aired a tribute for her (If yes, don`t put Rocket Dog as Dominant Female, instead put a -). We have to put a note that this is a list of meerkats in the series at the end of series and that proably in this moment are other meerkats as dominants. A person who don`t know nothing will think that this are the dominants now. --190.247.121.78 (talk) 01:26, 13 January 2010 (UTC)
- It already says this very clearly in the lead. And yes, they did mention it. -- AnmaFinotera (talk · contribs) 01:34, 13 January 2010 (UTC)
