Size split?

edit

Split - Article is over 200 kB, and should be split by half-century (i.e. 1850-1899, 1900-1949, 1950-1999, 2000-present). Thoughts? Suggestions?--Jax 0677 (talk) 00:31, 31 December 2012 (UTC)Reply

I removed the colour from most cells, dropping the size down to just over 200 kB. If we are to split, we could remove the "haven't played yet" and "listed but delisted without playing a game" sections, but you'd have to wonder if they would survive as standalone lists. Your suggestion of by half-century definitely isn't acceptable, but possibly before and after 1940/WWII/1945/1950 could work, but it would just be an arbitrary separation with no meaning or reason, other than to fit in some other arbitrary suggested size limit. So, as it has been 2 months without any action, I'm removing the tags and leading it as is. The-Pope (talk) 16:02, 25 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

Career Length

edit

The Melbourne career column should be from when the player was first listed to when they were delisted as that is a truer reflection of when they were at the club, and even though some didn't play in their first/last year, they still took up a spot on Melbourne's list. It is also consistent with the later sections in the page for players who are listed and still yet to debut, and players who were listed and didn't play a game. I've already gone through the 2010's players and fixed them up and am happy to do the rest too. Flickerd (talk) 05:26, 9 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

That might be a truer reflection of a career span but I think the problem is that while it would be consistent with the later sections of the page, it will be inconsistent with the vast number of players on this page as it's mainly recent or current players that we are going to/able to list this way. Yeah I agree in terms of earlier players, and I saw that as a potential problem, but I've gone through earlier players and when they were listed and have found some discrepancies. I'll work through it, but I think it's definitely doable to do it for the players before the draft was established, it just might take a bit of time, but it's something I think is important, and as previously said, I'm happy to do it.
