editWhy is the cuisine column irrelevant? @The Banner: How would you help inform readers? Obviously these restaurants don't just serve Japanese cuisines. Thx 08:13, 23 October 2020 (UTC)
- True, but that info belongs to the article about the restaurant itself. Not in an overview about Michelin starred restaurants. The Banner talk 09:01, 23 October 2020 (UTC)
- What policy guidance are you citing to justify this position? With the huge number of restaurants, it will take years to update each restaurant. In the meantime, readers are deprived of the info. While they may look up the cuisine on the official Michelin guide website, but that site doesn't have the star info historically in one place. Supermann (talk) 17:56, 23 October 2020 (UTC)
- What policy are you citing to push it into the article? For this article the cuisine is just irrelevant. You can also name it advertising or fancruft. The subject of the page is the combination of the restaurants and its star(-history). When the page is complete, it will be heavy enough. The Banner talk 18:27, 23 October 2020 (UTC)
- If there is no policy/style guide against it, then it's just a matter of reaching consensus. Right now it's 1:1. Adding cuisine type has nothing to do with advertising or soapboxing or whatever you insinuated. Readers deserve this info. Period. It will take a while for any true fan to add the outstanding hundreds of one stars. No one is writing the actual restaurant page anytime soon. Not to mention there is no deadline to do so. We need to be reasonable here. The next major update would be the 2021 guide. Not sure if any one has updated Kyoto Osaka + Okayama 2021 Selection yet. ~~~~
- I took a quick look at several other articles about Michelin restaurants. None of them showed the cuisine. The Banner talk 09:07, 24 October 2020 (UTC)
- It could be no one bothered to add that, unless you found consensus reached somewhere already? Adding cuisine is definitely a much easier task than writing the dedicated pages of each restaurant which are probably 1,000+. Supermann (talk) 18:34, 24 October 2020 (UTC)
