editThis is turning out to be quite a comprehensive list! Feel free to pitch in anytime!--Paul McDonald 20:15, 15 November 2007 (UTC)
Coaches column
editThis is not a list of NAIA coaches, it is list of the programs. The coaches info would be better in the articles about the schools/programs. Additionally, adding coaches make this article inconsistent with its brethren at:
- List of NCAA Division I FBS football programs
- List of NCAA Division I FCS football programs
- List of NCAA Division II football programs
- List of NCAA Division III football programs

- Thanks for your input. The current head coach is a significant part of the program, just like the city or town where the college is, the mascot, and the conference. NAIA schools tend not to have football-team specific pages, only a few even have athletic program pages seperate from the school. Really, about the only place to have current-season information about an NAIA football program (at least right now) is on the current head coach's page. But I also see your point on making the list consistent with the other pages.--Paul McDonald (talk) 23:27, 25 March 2008 (UTC)
- I would hate to see this end up being a column of either: incomplete or inaccurate data as it would hurt the credibility of the list. Bad data would be worse than no data (and I would also hate to see a column of redlinks, though I readily acknowledge the large contributions of coaches pages that Paulmcdonald has made in this area). I would have no objection to supporting the addition of this column to all of the lists of this type, but I still oppose adding it to this page only. I guess that would need to be a proposal to the project instead of here. Gwguffey (talk) 00:02, 26 March 2008 (UTC)
- I'd actually go in favor of not including the coaches at this point in time. It'd be a nice thing to have, but it'd also be a logistical nightmare to keep updated, and I don't know that we could do it justice. Better to leave it out at this point. JKBrooks85 (talk) 08:31, 28 March 2008 (UTC)
I keep arguing with myself on this issue (in fact, I argued with myself on it for a few months now). I see the merits on both sides. However, I think we need to keep everything in the college football project "uniform" -- in other words, be a part of the project, instead of a kinda-sorta-part of the project. I'd like a few more days of discussion, and I'll invite some from the CFP talk page to come here and post an idea or two.
That said, for NAIA football, we need something similar to a "master team list", and need that for Div III, II, I-FCS, and NAIA... something like Wikipedia:WikiProject College football/MasterTeamTable.--Paul McDonald (talk) 02:59, 26 March 2008 (UTC)
- I like the thought of something analogous to the MasterTeamTable that you suggest. Excellent idea. fyi, right after I dropped the original note on your talk page, I posted note on the project talk page. Another reminder would be a good thing...and then we wouldn't be talking to ourselves. Gwguffey (talk) 05:38, 26 March 2008 (UTC)
