Redundancy
editI really feel this "List of New Zealand musicians" is redundant. The List-of page provides almost no additional information that couldn't be provided by correct categorization on Category:New Zealand musical groups, Category:New Zealand musicians, and Category:New Zealand songwriters. The redlinks (which is most of them!) could simply be moved to the Category pages' description to await creation. Protest here.. Oliver Lineham 06:03, 2004 Dec 26 (UTC)

Sorry but you are wrong... WP:MUSIC sets out criteria for artists/groups to get an individual article. Until such time that a group/artist meets that criteria this is a good place to list them and briefly discuss them until they hit the big time and meet the criteria in WP:MUSIC.Garrie 05:58, 12 December 2006 (UTC)
- Well the red links are gone, presumably they weren't referenced. What this list needs now is notes such as genre, years active and best known/highest charting song(s). Kappa 07:31, 1 August 2007 (UTC)
Correct Catagorising
editHey all. If you find this i have a backup on this page at User:PhatePunk/NZmus. I am going through the list to add correct catagorys. Any help appreciated PhatePunk 23:19, 21 March 2006 (UTC)
- Hey Allison Durbin , Queen of Pop an artist who won awards isn't on the list nor is Mavis Rivers, a wonderful Jazz singer whom made it big in USA 27.252.82.231 (talk) 03:25, 25 April 2023 (UTC)
Alphabetization notes
editIn case someone is inclined to "correct" these: Libraries catalogue Che Fu under C - its a stage name. Dei Hamo is H, however. Also, the Maori name Te Whatever is listed under T. dramatic 10:06, 25 January 2007 (UTC)
Some originated in Australia
editArticle says "This is a list of music artists originating from New Zealand" but at least two of the bands (Crowded House and The Pleazers) originated in Australia, according to their articles. Should they be removed or should the introductory sentence be changed? Nurg (talk) 04:22, 4 April 2019 (UTC)
Proposed merge of List of musical artists from New Zealand into this article
editThe two articles seem to be more-or-less duplicates. List of New Zealand musicians is the older article and its title is in line with those for many other countries - see Category:Lists of musicians by nationality. Nurg (talk) 06:59, 15 April 2019 (UTC)
- Merger complete. Klbrain (talk) 21:36, 7 April 2020 (UTC)
alphabetising
editThis list is currently a shambles - acts alphabetised by first name, by surname, out of order within each letter. And given that the list simply duplicates what's in the category, is it really needed? Grutness...wha? 10:56, 21 May 2020 (UTC)
- I've started fixed up the alphabeticalisation. It's all a muddle with artists, musicians and groups all combined into one list too. They should be separated out. Ajf773 (talk) 09:53, 30 July 2020 (UTC)
Rob Guest
editWhy is Rob Guest not on list? 211.26.91.87 (talk) 12:08, 27 May 2023 (UTC)
Add Artist
editHow do we go about adding the new artist Jenni Smith? see this for details: https://www.facebook.com/SongSmithJenni Bradthesparky91 (talk) 04:24, 23 June 2024 (UTC)
