Renaming suggestion: List of New England pilot boats
editI suggest renaming this article "List of New England pilot boats", as pilot boats are a global phenomenon, and not restricted to a few states in the U.S. Either the article should be expanded to incorporate other parts of the world, or it should be renamed. I think the latter would be an appropriate course of action. Netherzone (talk) 17:28, 9 August 2020 (UTC)
- Netherzone I am OK with renaming. Why "New England", New York is not listed in the the six states. How about "List of North America pilot boats"? --Greg Henderson (talk) 19:32, 9 August 2020 (UTC)
- @Greghenderson2006: good point, I guess NY is considered mid-Atlantic not New England. How about List of East Coast pilot boats, or even better Northeastern U.S. Coast, since the article does not include any boats from the south, the gulf coast, west coast, nor Great Lakes pilot boats and does not include any international boats? On the list article page it states that it is restricted to these states: New York, New Jersey, and Boston, Massachusetts; changing the name would make it more accurate. - Done, moved to List of Northeastern U. S. Pilot Boats. --Greg Henderson (talk) 20:51, 9 August 2020 (UTC)
- Moved to List of northeastern U. S. pilot boats per WP:TITLEFORMAT. - Station1 (talk) 20:22, 16 December 2021 (UTC)

Query
editRe "After loosing the Dancing Feather, in 1854, the Daniel Webster, was purchased in 1854" but later on the dancing feather is described as going ashore in 1857. ϢereSpielChequers 12:18, 5 March 2021 (UTC)
- Sorry for the confusion. Here is what I've updated it to: After losing the Boston built pilot-boat Dancing Feather, in 1853 to the newly established San Francisco Merchant Line Source 1, the Daniel Webster, was purchased by the San Francisco Pilots' Old Line in October 1853. The Daniel Webster sailed from Boston to Cape Horn to get to San Francisco. Source 2. Note, San Francisco had two pilot boat lines, the Opposition line and the Merchant line. --Greg Henderson (talk) 18:09, 5 March 2021 (UTC)
- Thanks, that works for me. ϢereSpielChequers 15:48, 8 March 2021 (UTC)
