editThe same person is referred to and linked to as Shefqet Velaxhi (I'll fix this typo) and Shefqet Bej Verlaxhi. Andres 21:07, 31 Aug 2003 (UTC)
- I don't know which is the correct spelling, but since it's mentioned in Fan S. Noli as Velaxhi I stuck with it. Did you see Verlaxhi some place else so we can confirm this? Bej or bey is just a title so you might see a name with or without it. --Dori 21:50, 31 Aug 2003 (UTC)
- I have a lot of sources where the name is written "Verlaci" (including the Wukioedia article about Albania during the World War II. I'll check other variants. As to the title, it does not matter, my only concern is that we fix the heading of the article. So far I have been thinking that it should be "Shefqet Verlaci". I am collecting material about him right now. And why has the title two forms, Bey and Bej? Andres 22:04, 31 Aug 2003 (UTC)
- I also met the forms Shefqet Verlaçi, Sefket Verlaxhi, Shefqet Velaxhi and Sefket Velaxhi.
- As to the time when he was Prime Minister, there are different dates.
- First time. Beginning: February, March, March 5 (1924).
- End: June 10, July 2.
- Second time. Beginning: April 12, April 11 (1939).
- End: December 3, November 10, December 4 (1941).
- I think the correct name is Shefqet Bej Verlaci and the most likely dates are March 5 to June 2, 1924, and April 11, 1939, to December 4, 1941. --Wik 22:56, Aug 31, 2003 (UTC)
- I don't think it's Verlaci, it doesn't sound Albanian. I think it's either Verlaxhi or Verlaçi then. The xh and ç sound are a bit close in this case, so that's why you might see different spellings. When it comes to Albanian on printed/web resources you might see e instead of ë and c instead of ç because it is a bit tedious to find the characters :). Likewise Sefket is not an Albanian form, but Shefqet is. As to Bey or Bej, it depends on whether you go with the english version or the albanian version. In Albanian bey is written as bej because that is how the y sound is pronounced. In some cases, the bej stuck for so long that most people didn't say it because it was a title, but because it simply became part of their name. Skanderbeg for example came from the titles Alexander and Bey. --Dori 02:26, 1 Sep 2003 (UTC)
- Hmm, it could be. I've been wrong before. --Dori 02:53, 1 Sep 2003 (UTC)
Maybe Kosta Kota should be Koço Kota ([3]). --Wik 03:17, 1 Sep 2003 (UTC)
- I was just going to ask the same thing :) [4], but I also saw this one [5] given as Kostaq Kota, but Koço Kota seems more pervasive. --Dori 03:26, 1 Sep 2003 (UTC)
- Possible, but so far the evidence is thin. It's all one and the same article where this full name appears. --Wik 05:00, 1 Sep 2003 (UTC)
