Notability

edit

Every man, woman, or animal in these lists meets notability per WP:NRODEO.

These lists are champions and award winners which result from the National Finals Rodeo. The Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association holds its finals, the National Finals Rodeo at the end of every year in Las Vegas, Nevada, and finalists compete in each of its events with one champion resulting from each event. Except the steer riding, which is held separately at the National Finals Steer Roping (NFSR) in Kansas. The champion of the steer roping is held in the same regard as the other champions and announced in conjunction with the rest on the PRCA web site and in the news. dawnleelynn(talk) 23:21, 8 March 2018 (UTC)Reply

Article review notability and other

edit

Atsme Hi Atsme! Do you recall when we were working on the PBR Series template that I asked if you would do a quick review on my PRCA Champions list article when it was ready? I also thought it might be nice to do a series template for the PRCA as well. Well, if you could just look at this article for the following, it shouldn't take long at all. It's not a rush either. Just when you have time to get to it.

  • Headings and their names make sense.
  • Order of sections.
  • The 2017 NFR Average champions are blank because I'm having trouble finding them.
  • You feel each list really belongs in the article. (I said above in the notability section that every person or animal meets notability, so may need to remove some lists or change the statement above.)
  • Do you see any lists that belong here that are missing? I left out specialty acts, for example.
  • Regarding the RAM National Circuit, [1], I have left that out. We could list all of the finals winners for each of the 12 geographic regions, but it is a lot and I'm not persuaded they are notable. However, for world champions who have RNCFR wins, I could list the ones they have won because they are listed in the records most of the time-if they have won any. For example, on the PRCA web site, if they have a bio it's listed there. P.S. Before 2010, it was called the Dodge National Circuit.
  • Any feedback you see on your own.

P.S. I forgot to ask. Do you think Rookie of the Year is notable enough for an article in any rodeo organization? PBR, PRCA, WPRA, CBR, etc? dawnleelynn(talk) 19:22, 14 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

I have a "sweet 16" birthday celebration in a few hours - then an important meeting on Monday afternoon that will take most of the day to prepare for - I can start on it Tuesday...is that ok? Atsme📞📧 19:34, 14 April 2018 (UTC)Reply
Atsme Sure, that's great. Thanks! Also, I will have some time I could work on Buster Welch some more next week if you want. Follow some trails and see where it goes. I haven't tried the Newspaper Archive yet, among other things. :) dawnleelynn(talk) 19:40, 14 April 2018 (UTC)Reply
Oh, here's the link to the Home Page of the 2017 PRCA Media Guide. You can't check what might be missing if you can't see the whole guide...my bad: [2]. Each section takes you to a separate PDF. dawnleelynn(talk) 23:53, 14 April 2018 (UTC)Reply
Ok - suggestion: - tables - see Category:Basketball_by_country or others listed in the Sports category as examples. I'm thinking maybe Rookie should have it's own standalone list, and the same for the rough stock; i.e. separate list for bulls, separate for the horses. My lord, girl - you did a heckuva lot of work there - excellent job! I think it will be much easier for you to manage after you separate the categories, and then add the tables. Atsme📞📧 23:38, 29 May 2018 (UTC)Reply
Atsme Hi, can you believe I've been feeling under the weather for a few days now? I've only done the bare minimum of editing. So, let's see if I understand you correctly. I so appreciate your review and suggestions, btw. So, are you saying that the Rookies should have their own article? And a separate article for each type of livestock? Then you must be thinking you want me to break out the "Top NFR Bucking Stock" into the three types of livestock with a table for each? As far as tables, they are great when there are more than two columns. They really don't look right with just two and many of the lists are just two columns. So I just want to check with you. Putting all of the lists into tables will be a lot of work. So want to make sure about it. Thanks a bunch. It sounds like something I will have to work on alongside other projects because it just be too monotonous to work on straight through. Thanks again. dawnleelynn(talk) 19:06, 4 June 2018 (UTC)Reply
I can believe it...there's a bug going on, so take care of you. The article can wait. Atsme📞📧 19:57, 4 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

You can add color to the cells/columns/rows, and make it look really cool. For All-Around I might consider 3 columns (like reflist) instead of a table. Atsme📞📧 20:18, 4 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

Atsme I saw your reply, and I typed up something. When I clicked Show Preview, it said there was an editing conflict. What's weird is that my edits were gone. And it was close to where I needed to leave for an appointment and some errands. Anyway, what I was going to say, most of it is moot now. I did want to tell you that I created an article for Mary Burger for May's Women in Sports, Women in Red, edithon. It's in DYK on the main page right now but about to end in about 1/2 hour. I recall you said you used to be one in your early days. I will take a good look at this table tomorrow. The team roping column will have two names in some of the rows; they changed how they did at one point. But the table makes sense. It could be pretty wide; I'll have to start it and see how it looks. It will take awhile to do but that's how the ball rolls sometimes. Thanks! dawnleelynn(talk) 03:27, 5 June 2018 (UTC)Reply
Atsme Ok, I typed up the table with 4 rows to get a feel for what it would look like, you can take a quick look here and make sure it it heading in the right direction? It's in my sandbox. The idea is to complete it in my sandbox and move it to the real article when it's complete. Thus no disruption to the real article. 2017 Xtreme Bulls Champion Correction

edit

Hello, Dawnleelynn or whoever reads this first. The 2019 PRCA Xtreme Bulls Finale just concluded. Sage Kimzey was the tour champion and Jordan Spears was the event champion. The results were identical to two years ago. At the time, the article mentioning Spears’ event victory did not mention him or anyone else specifically as the year-end tour champion, but mentioned that Spears had won over $40,000 at the event, so I thought that was enough to propel him to the top of the Xtreme Bulls standings, and ultimately win him the tour championship. I just read the article mentioning the 2019 finale results, and it stated that this was Sage Kimzey’s fourth Xtreme Bulls year-end title and third in a row, meaning he won it in 2017. The problem is that the mistake on the Xtreme Bulls Champions section of the PRCA champions page that states Jordan Spears as the 2017 Xtreme Bulls champion is cited, and I am unaware of how to fix it. I would appreciate it you could correct the Xtreme Bulls champions list. Thank You Very Much! Uricarrillo94 (talk) 10:04, 1 September 2019 (UTC)Reply

Uricarrillo94 Hi there. I think this section of the 2019 Media Guide by the PRCA will give you what you are seeking. It is confusing to me as I don't follow this event. Another editor adds this champion every year. I can change the citation because this will cover 2017 and 2018. [3]. Let me know. dawnleelynn(talk) 16:11, 1 September 2019 (UTC)Reply
This link might be better? since the 2019 media guide is still a work in progress: [4]. I don't use the media guide for individual items, just as a citation at the bottom of each list. I think we want a more prominent link, at least for awhile, at the end of each year for 2017-2019. dawnleelynn(talk) 17:16, 1 September 2019 (UTC)Reply
Upon further thought, I updated the media guide to the 2019 version, which provides citation source for all champs until 2018. Thus, we can correct the year 2017. And, I found an article for 2019 so I added Kimzey for that year with a citation that backs that up. I'm really done this time. You can inspect to be sure it's all correct. dawnleelynn(talk) 21:17, 1 September 2019 (UTC)Reply

Hello, Dawn. Yes, it is all correct. For two years, I was not sure if the 2017 Xtreme Bulls year-end results were correct until late last night. Now, I am sure. I very much appreciate your help.

Hi Uricarrillo94 ! I am glad. Although, I just checked the link at the bottom to the Xtreme Bulls chapter of the media guide. I goofed. It was still the 2017 guide. I just updated it, and it's correct now. If you look at page 5 of the guide now, it will show the correct champions and money through to 2018. Anyway, glad all is correct now!

Orphaned references in List of Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association Champions

edit

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of List of Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association Champions's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.
