editOK - this page is very much a work in progress. Any additions (such as Julius Caesar's Consul designate selections that never took office due to his assassination) would be much appreciated. Oatley2112 (talk) 03:39, 24 October 2011 (UTC)
- How about Incitatus? ðarkuncoll 00:51, 7 November 2011 (UTC)
- Got to love that horse! However, I am one of those who think that the whole Incitatus story is a beat up by Suetonius, taking what was a joke and turning it into a story of how decadent and corrupted Caligula was, much like the rest of his biography of Caligula. Romans were very concerned about dignitas (which is why Caligula was assassinated by Cassius Chaerea), and such jokes at the expense of the aristocracy, where the consulate was fit only for a horse, left a bitterness which informed much of Suetonius's work. So I would say "neigh" to Incitatus. :) Oatley2112 (talk) 02:24, 7 November 2011 (UTC)
