Page too big
editMore specifically, there are too many "expensive parser function" calls. See Category:Pages with too many expensive parser function calls for details. Here is a list of all articles that are in this category.
The problem is the call to {{cfb link}}. The recent conference additions pushed the page over the limit of 500.
The most straightforward and future-proof, er, future-resistant way to deal with this is to split the page at some logical "era," such as "20th century" and "21st century" but other ideas might work as well.
Another way would be to create redirects or pages for all "by-year" football teams. Since there are currently 560 out of the 500 allowed, at least 60 such redirects or articles would need to be created. I didn't check, but if there are less than 60 "missing" pages, then this won't work.
Another option is to audit each of the templates and not use cfb link when the team has a full-fledged, unlikely-to-ever-be-deleted article for that year's football program. Reducing the number of calls to cfb link will save 1 or more "expensive parser function calls" per use that is removed.
Again, the most future-proof way to deal with this is to split the page. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 15:38, 14 August 2020 (UTC)
