Royal Variety Performance

edit

I have reverted 2 edits by an IP deleting the Royal Variety Performance special. This is a properly cited entry, and the edits deleting it have had no explanation in their notes. I am open to debate on why this shoudl or shouldn't be in the list - let's discuss here before making further edits, shall we? Etron81 (talk) 14:04, 21 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Don't know about that but the link is to a site that is now ended and can no longer be accessed, perhaps why someone deleted it??? 81.111.127.132 (talk) 11:56, 26 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Ah yes, the great disappointment of the abandoned BBC programme catalogue. I think if it was referenced while it was still on beta, it's a fair assumption that it was correct. I don't know if a wayback link exists? Bob talk 13:39, 26 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Directed by....Bernard Thompson?

edit

I'm sure Duncan Wood directed and produced all 4 1960s series and all but two of the 70s series of Steptoe and Son, is there a source for Bernard Thompson directing the first series anywhere?81.111.127.132 (talk) 14:18, 22 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

Listing of radio episodes

edit

I think this article would greatly benefit by also having a listing of all the radio episodes broken down by series. With indication whether the radio shows were edited versions of the audio from the TV shows - or specially re-recorded for radio. Is there an editor who could undertake such a task? Royal Variety Performance removing ref

edit

Just a note to say I am going to remove the ref for this as it is incorrect and the source is no longer accessable anyway, the original editor obviously assumed the Steptoe appearence was on the BBC aired edition in 1964, when in fact it was an ITV transmitted edition which also famously featured the Beatles in 1963, and so would not be on the BBC site the date is gleened from. So I hope no one will object to the ref removal.81.111.126.82 (talk) 20:56, 31 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

Unwanted wording

edit

I don't know why, but series 2 to 6 have something like: 'The last of the stories adapted into an episode of Sanford and Son' in some entries. So What? Is S&S so important that it has to be mentioned here? This is meant to be about a 'List of Steptoe and Son episodes'.
On looking at the 'List of Sanford and Son episodes', the nearest I can find to something similar is: "The first of 16 stories adapted from Steptoe and Son by Ray Galton and Alan Simpson"; but that is also irregular.

Again, I would ask, so what? The sentences are not needed in this list, I would suggest that they are irrelevant and should be deleted.

Before shortening the text, I would like to get some concensus, so what do other editors think?

I think there is certainly utility in indicating which episodes were remade for Sanford & Son, although the wording could be less tortuous, both here and on the List of Sanford and Son episodes. Nick Cooper (talk) 16:02, 16 August 2015 (UTC)Reply
