Is the "most commercials by brand" necessary?

edit

Can we delete the table regarding most commercials by brand? This would only be useful in the main article about Super Bowl advertising, not this list, as it would be difficult to source anything pre-Internet regarding how often commercials were played. -AngusWOOF (talk) 02:52, 25 February 2015 (UTC)Reply

The table is now removed. It's too much original research to count ads over 52 super bowls. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 23:09, 16 February 2018 (UTC)Reply

Needs to become more complete, atleast for 2018 ad cycle

edit

I noticed that the Church of Scientology ad was not listed and added it in. I'm not sure how many others were also not listed for the 2018 ad cycle, but here is an easy list of all of the most recent ones for someone who has the time to check: http://www.businessinsider.com/super-bowl-2018-all-the-commercials-2018-2 — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dheraj.G (talkcontribs) 20:06, 16 February 2018 (UTC)Reply

I'm hoping folks can check their DVRs to see if this ad was aired or whether it was regional. It wasn't listed in the other lists provided. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 23:08, 16 February 2018 (UTC)Reply
Okay, I checked my DVR of the game. The scientology ad wasn't shown, so it might have been something regional. A Quiet Place was shown after the national anthem during pre-game. Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom was shown after the coin toss and was the last ad prior to kickoff. The only NBC Olympics Best of U.S. ad that showed during the game was the Lindsey Vonn one. There were a ton of NFL short ads with Manning, and a bunch of random NBC Olympics promotions. The NBC Olympics Best of U.S. Shaun White ad showed right after the conclusion of the game, so the Mikaela, Nathan, and Chloe ones were not shown even though they were prepared for the game. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 09:39, 17 February 2018 (UTC)Reply
There was a yellowtail ad with a kangaroo but it turns out to be regional [1]. Same with Credit Sesame [2] There were a number of other local ads shown mostly during halftime. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 09:52, 17 February 2018 (UTC)Reply
I reviewed the Business Insider list and the Scientology ad was concluded to be regional, after Jack vs. Martha and before the Monster Headphones ad, in my area they aired Credit Sesame. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 10:09, 17 February 2018 (UTC)Reply

First Super Bowl 1967

edit

This was added unsourced to the section. I will removed it and have reposted it here until sourced.

Farah International, a clothing manufacturer in El Paso, Texas did the Very First Aired superbowl commercial. I can't find the footage, it showed a man (Father-in-law of editor) walking off the airplane taking his 2 Girls to the Superbowl. Of course they were all dressed in Farah Manufacturer clothing lines. 65.131.234.50 (talk)

I will undo and add a short paragraph, instead of a table, for the first one. StrayBolt (talk) 19:22, 14 October 2019 (UTC)Reply

Clarification on the GM Ad

edit

As a reminder, I will say this again, the "No Way Norway" ad is an advertisement for General Motors and it SHOULD NOT be labeled as just an ad for two cars. While they do mention those vehicles from Cadillac and GMC, GM's advertising their new Electric Vehicles and it's not just from the two cars, it's from their new and upcoming EVs as a whole. Yes, Will said this "GM's Ultrium Battery." and there are words at the end of the ad that reads "30 new EVs by 2025." So this ad is about all of GM's new electric cars, not just the two that was mentioned. Go on and watch it if you want, and if you think that'll change your minds, then yeah. 20chances (talk) 18:02, 11 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

Excluded ads

edit

We're excluding those 5-second ads that are coming directly from the TV network. For 2022, I also grouped the self-promotional NBC ads to one (the one with TV hosts complaining about Ted Danson). The TV shows and films that had their own ads are still listed separately. AngusW🐶🐶F (barksniff) 00:51, 15 February 2022 (UTC)Reply

Super Bowl LVI questioned ads

edit

We need to check what to do about these ads which either aired before or after or was regional or not sure when:

Outside

Regional ad confirmed

| B2B || Criteo || "The Future Is Wide Open" || A woman is visited by her future selves who tell her what's best for her.[1]

| Workplace software || ClickUp || "Declaration" || The founding fathers use ClickUp to help organize the signing of the Declaration of Independence. [2][3]

| Software as a service || Monday.com || "Work without limits" || Urges people to do great things.[4][better source needed]

  • REGIONAL AD per Adweek:

Please confirm if any of the ones actually aired (indicate when in the game like 9:58 4th), and are nationwide and not regional. I might have zoned out but I don't recall seeing it on my watch, will need to check DVR. AngusW🐶🐶F (barksniff) 20:41, 15 February 2022 (UTC)Reply

I looked over my DVR run, did not see Busch Light, BIC, Oikos, or Sam Adams. AngusW🐶🐶F (barksniff) 03:12, 16 February 2022 (UTC)Reply

Should we include regional ads and indicate they are such? AngusW🐶🐶F (barksniff) 21:10, 16 February 2022 (UTC)Reply

Ad notability

edit

I'm curious what the criteria for the notability of ads is, as I recall that during the most recent Super Bowl there was a commercial that made it seem like you accidentally changed the channel. The advertiser's name escaped me at the moment, but I'm fairly sure it did gain some media attention. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 16:07, 14 February 2023 (UTC)Reply

Also I had notice that Super Bowl commercial also appeared on NFL Game Pass International simulcast for audiences outside United States, although some licensors (including those in UK, Germany, Australia, even here in Indonesia) has also aired that event as well, albeit the commercial was used their local ads instead (depending on regional branding). VernardoLau (talk) 17:50, 14 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
It should be an ad that for the most part aired nationwide in the US. You can see the analysis above on last year's super bowl. AngusW🐶🐶F (barksniff) 18:05, 14 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
I'm fairly sure this one aired nationwide. Here's a source from Hollywood Reporter on it.Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 18:27, 14 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
Ah yes, the Tubi ad, that's in the list. Seems national. AngusW🐶🐶F (barksniff) 14:55, 28 February 2023 (UTC)Reply

Super Bowl LVII questioned ads

Confirmed regional:

Possibly regional, please help confirm

Didn't air during the game in my region: Need timestamps for film trailers. They might have aired regional stuff in place where I was:

I only recall seeing an ad for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. No SMB Movie trailer or T:RotB ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 16:24, 28 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
After National Anthem: Rise of Beasts trailer, Fanduel - Gronkowski press interview leading to Field Goal, Prime sports drink, McDonalds couples
After Coin Toss: US Army - documentary narrated by Kevin Costner, Guardians of the Galaxy 3 (half trailer, tells you to watch full one online), What's VMS, Turbotax/Plant shop, Cat plays keyboard YouTube for NFL Sunday Ticket
So those two film trailers are before kickoff. AngusW🐶🐶F (barksniff) 19:59, 28 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
Hmm alright. I don't usually watch the Super Bowl except for the ads cause I don't really like football so I probably missed those. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 20:06, 28 February 2023 (UTC)Reply

What's the inclusion criteria here?

edit

Stumbled upon this page today and was kind of surprised that it seems to seems to aim to be an exhaustive list of advertisement, most of which are not independently notable, and many of which don't even have sourcing. The "user summarizes an ad they saw" approach is more appropriate for a fandom wiki, so what's the Wikipedia-compliant inclusion criteria for this article? I would suspect that at minimum every entry should be either independently notable or supported by at least one or two sources specifically about that ad. — Rhododendrites talk \\ 13:10, 22 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
