Suggestion for a change to the way things are explained

After making this edit, where the edit comment says:

(→‎#REDIRECT: change the syntax of the #fragment portion of the URL to work better! This part of the URL is intended to cause the destination (when clicking) to be a certain section -- (currently section 2!) -- of the destination article. (Q.V.))

I started to actually read what it says at the intended section (currently section 2) -- of this article.

Old

Currently the first sentence there (in that section) says:

A law is de'oraita (Hebrew: דאורייתא) if it is derived from the Torah; if a law is derabanan (Hebrew: דרבנן) it is mandated by the rabbinical sages.

Please consider a suggestion (see below) for a change. The reasons for that suggestion include: the fact that the words

that come directly from the Torah

appear as part of the "quote" in (the "ref" tag of) footnote number "[1]" of this article (List of Talmudic principles) ... so ... those words appear in (the wikitext of) the very next paragraph.

New

Suggestion: change the first sentence there, to say:

A law is de'oraita (Hebrew: דאורייתא) if it comes directly from the Torah (written or oral); a law is derabanan (Hebrew: דרבנן) if it was mandated (added) by the rabbinical sages.

This change may not be needed. Some (or all) parts of these suggested changes might not be recommended (by you, the reader[s].)

Grossly Incomplete List

I don't know how to do this, but this article should have a banner identifying it as an Incomplete list Mandely (talk) 15:33, 21 May 2021 (UTC)
