Much About This Episode Listing Is Wrong
editMuch about this episode listing is wrong.
First, I have reversed the incredibly wrong changes made by User:Sean.hurley1398 in June 2022 – the "first" season is in fact the 4-episodes that aired in April–May 1993. The episodes that started in September 1993 are a completely different season under any reasonable definition of American "TV season" and trying to list them together is just wrong.
Next, on Wikipedia, episodes are listed according to broadcast, not according to production.
If anyone wants to see the correct season numbering (and what this article calls the "Pilot season" should actually be listed "Season #1" – Peacock, Epguides and Apple TV all agree that there are "9 seasons" total), and also the correct number of episodes per season, one only needs to look up Walker, Texas Ranger on Peacock... Actually, Apple TV has a different episode listing, and they list airdates. I would probably mostly go off Apple TV, and Epguides (which I am about to add to this article) to figure out broadcast episode count.
In short, this article still probably has a lot wrong, and still needs a lot of "fixing". I hope some editors, esp. those with time to go through Peacock, Apple TV and Epguides, put in some time and effort into correcting this article. --IJBall (contribs • talk) 21:10, 6 June 2023 (UTC)
- I agree with the above comment that it should be seasons 1-9. The first season (currently labeled the pilot season) was intended to be 13 episodes before funding was abruptly halted, which is why it's just three (or four) episodes. The point is that it is a first season, not a pilot season. The original TV Guide schedules for the season premieres/finales confirm it's seasons 1-9 as well.
- I've also yet to see any official source call the first season a pilot season. Unfortunately, the DVDs combined the first two seasons as "season 1," which has likely led to the current confusion, but we're not going by DVD release. Since Wikipedia goes by broadcast, it should be season 1-9.
- We should also address how to handle the two-hour episodes. The page lists them as being two separate episodes, even though they originally aired as a single two-hour episode. The two-hour episodes were often split into two one-hour episodes in syndication, and some streaming services do that as well. But going by broadcast, they were single two-hour episodes. So season 1 (currently labeled the pilot season) would have 3 episodes, not 4.
