The tune of this article

edit

Every time in the Naval Battle list that Britain had won against US, the author always seems to have a way to find an excuse for US Navy. Which makes people wonder the objectivity of this article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.239.184.242 (talk) 22:43, 9 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

I sure wish you had given an example of the excuses you claim are in the article. I can't find anything even resembling bias. Could it be that you just resent any American victory? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 50.32.43.224 (talk) 16:15, 9 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

Restructuring

edit

I propose to restructure this list after the example of List of battles of the War of the Third Coalition. Restructuring could be done by tabulation of dates, names of battles + links, location/theater, and a summary with a reference to a modern, recent WP:RS. It would look something like this:

Date Battle Theater U.S. forces UK forces Summary
July 2, 1812 Capture of the Cuyahoga Packet American Northwest   Army of the Northwest   Provincial Marine On the Detroit River, a Provincial Marine unit under Frédérick Rolette captured U.S. schooner Cuyahoga Packet, containing valuable intelligence.[1]

I think the summary should be able to be limited to a single line, especially without a direct quotation indicating the significance of a battle. The fact that the wikitable is sortable makes it easier to find battles by date, theater, name, and participants. If nobody replies, I'll try to WP:BOLDly implement this myself. PS: Timeline of the War of 1812 already has a tabulated layout. Perhaps the two could be merged? E.g. Timeline of the Golden Horde also lists all battles, so there is no need for a separate list of battles article. NLeeuw (talk) 10:42, 7 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
