Whether to delete this article
editStarting this article, I was aware of its being far from perfect - primarily due to the lack of material. The sources I made use of are reliable but few and in some aspects out of date. But the main reason for creating the article was the significance of the topic, and the main topic of it is Western European painting (which is of global interest) rather than the history of Ukrainian museums (which is of local interest). I tried to focus on how the Western European collections had found themselves in Ukrainian museums and on what happened to them there, for, unfortunately, few people outside Ukraine know that this country possesses a significant part of the global cultural inheritance. I had no intention to enumerate ALL the museum pieces Ukraine has, but I wanted to mention the most famous names. Of course, the list of paintings can, and should, be updated; but I view this article as a general outline of the theme, as a scheme that other wiki-authors could add to.LingVictor (talk) 14:31, 12 February 2009 (UTC)
