Exclusion of "Untitled" games

Wanted to build consensus here before taking any big action. This article keeps on getting more and more "Untitled game from Company X" type entries. I think they should be removed.

  1. They clutter the list and they're not especially helpful if absolutely nothing is known but a company's name. (For example, companies like THQ support every main system, it's not exactly insightful to list that they have something they're working on.)
  2. Eventually, it's going to get confusing, as companies announce more games, as to what that initial "untitled game" was in reference to, whether or not to remove it, etc.

This stance does not included entries like "Untitled Tekken" or "Untitled Smash Brothers", where there is actual information as to what the game will be.

Thoughts? Sergecross73 msg me 19:44, 17 January 2012 (UTC)

I would say that any game which has an article, or at least a good section of information in a main article should be allowed on the list. Blake (Talk·Edits) 04:33, 18 January 2012 (UTC)
Yeah, that criteria would probably have about the same results as mine; it's not like "Untitled Ubisoft game" is going to have an article or section of information on it until it at least has a name or at least a "series" name attached to it, which at that point I'm fine with it being on the list. New Super Mario Bros. Mii

Is New Super Mario Bros. Mii the "untitled Mario game" in the article? If so, it should be replaced; if not, NSMBM should be added. 75.128.10.54 (talk) 22:21, 25 February 2012 (UTC)

Tech demos with unclear future should not be added at all. So far Nintendo has not confirmed that any E3 2011 tech demo will become a full game. --KAMiKAZOW (talk) 14:07, 27 February 2012 (UTC)

Check the source for the "Untitled Super Mario game" entry. It refers to a new Super Mario game that is not Super Mario Bros. Mii. Sergecross73 msg me 14:14, 27 February 2012 (UTC)

Should speculation be allowed just because it comes from a "reliable" source?

Several games were added to this list without confirmation. The only sources citing them were obviously just speculating, since there hasn't been an official announcement. As a result, I felt that the information was inaccurate and removed the games. However, they were put back there by someone (likely the person who added them in the first place). I took them off again, and he put them back again. So, we need to reach a consensus. Should games be added to this list just because a source assumes that the game might come to Wii U, even if there has been no indication at all from the developer, publisher, or Nintendo? (Mace Attorney (talk) 22:22, 6 March 2012 (UTC))

No, only games that have been officially announced and have a reliable source. Sergecross73 msg me 22:51, 6 March 2012 (UTC)
Also, the only reason I hadn't helped was because I thought that source confirmed the Rainbow 6 Patriots game. But upon research, it's just highly speculated. So yeah, all three games in question should be removed. Sergecross73 msg me 22:55, 6 March 2012 (UTC)
Thanks. Glad I could help keep the information here accurate. Also, I understand the R6:P confusion and I was wondering what to do about that myself, since the source seemed sure even though no large gaming sites listed it for Wii U. (Mace Attorney (talk) 23:53, 6 March 2012 (UTC))
Thanks for your help too. Minus your help in the last few days, I'm pretty much the only one enforcing anything on this page. Sergecross73 msg me 00:16, 7 March 2012 (UTC)

Medal of Honor Warfighter not confirmed for Wii U

Please see Electronic Arts official site: http://www.ea.com/medal-of-honor-warfighter?intcmp=EACom_warfighterannounce_latest_0312

As one can see, right now there is no Wii U version listed. As this is the company's official website, it is the definitive source on this. Some obscure website does not trump the company's claims. The game has not been confirmed for Wii U. Sergecross73 msg me 02:08, 7 March 2012 (UTC)

The source DID say that EA confirmed Medal of Honor Warfighter for Wii U. Maybe the company's website wasn't updated to reflect it yet. Should I wait until they do so? 68.36.179.225 (talk) 02:13, 7 March 2012 (UTC)
The source lied. No other website says this. (Mace Attorney (talk) 02:18, 7 March 2012 (UTC))
Actually, I found several other websites that mention Medal of Honor Warfighter being confirmed for Wii U. Think again. 68.36.179.225 (talk) 02:23, 7 March 2012 (UTC)
I can find a few obscure sites, but no official sites. Also, large gaming sites such as IGN, Game Informer, GameSpot, etc. don't mention it. Personally, I'm 100% positive that it'll be announced for Wii U. As of yet, however, it hasn't. (Mace Attorney (talk) 02:32, 7 March 2012 (UTC))
So I guess I just wait for an OFFICIAL announcement from EA or something like that, and once that is done, we can put the info back in? 68.36.179.225 (talk) 02:35, 7 March 2012 (UTC)
Yes, you're free to include any game that is officially announced. (It has to have a name of sorts too. "Untitled Nintendo game" for instance, would be removed, as it's too vague to really mean anything yet...) Sergecross73 msg me 03:19, 7 March 2012 (UTC)

As the above IP mentioned in edit summaries, the game still isn't 100% confirmed for Wii U. From what I gather, supposedly some German newspaper claims to have confirmation, but I have no idea if it's from a reliable source (I'm no German newspaper expert.), and EA still hasn't announced it themselves either. Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Online Cancelled/Unconfirmed?

Is the only reason this game's status changed due to not showing up at E3 yet? If that's the only reason, then it should stay as confirmed. A game not being at E3 doesn't mean it is cancelled. That sort of reasoning would consitute as original research or synthesis, which isn't acceptable. Or have I missed something? Has there been an official statement being made? Sergecross73 msg me 15:37, 5 June 2012 (UTC)

When I was reading yesterday, I came across an article that confirmed the game was still in development. I can go dig it up if someone requires it, but considering no one is challenging this, I won't go find it unless someone asks. Sergecross73 msg me 13:26, 8 June 2012 (UTC)

Bioshock Infinite

BioShock Infinite. Is it really confirmed for sure? I don't see any mention of it on the game's official site. Most sources are tracing it back to the source this article currently uses, from "Clickonline.com", a website I'm not familiar with being reliable, and has not indicated what their source for knowing this is. Other websites are calling it bogus as well. I think it needs to stay off until confirmed by a reliable source for certain. Sergecross73 msg me 02:39, 3 August 2012 (UTC)

DLC

An IP keeps on trying to add every piece of DLC of "Zen Pinball" to the list. I don't think DLC items belong on this article; if we start listing that for every game, this article is going to get far too massive, some games have like endless DLC. DLC type stuff should probably just be listed on the game's respective article. Thoughts? Sergecross73 msg me 14:17, 12 February 2013 (UTC)

I agree. This article needs to be as easy to maintain as possible and is a list, after all. Chevsapher (talk) 18:50, 14 February 2013 (UTC)

Shantae is confirmed by Wayforward

Awhile ago, Wayforward confirmed that they were working on a Shantae sequel for the Wii U. This game has not been added to the list currently. Another couple of titles recently confirmed are "Dusty Raging Fist" and "Cryamore". Lastly, the "Capcom Arcade Cabinet" and "Darkstalkers" were cancelled on the Wii U due to development starting before the eShop was complete.

In regards to your "cancelled games", according to your source, those 2 games weren't really cancelled; they just weren't ever even started. Probably shouldn't be listed. Sergecross73 msg me 15:25, 26 February 2013 (UTC)

Should we add in Off TV play and Pro Controller Support?

A few days ago, I added in two new columns to the List of Wii U games: Off TV Play and Pro Controller Support. I was hoping to create a definitive list of games that support it (as I can't seem to find one elsewhere) as well as a place to easily ascertain whether or not a game had these features. It was then removed later due to "lack of completeness" (mainly cause when I created it, I only had 10 games to test it on, therefore leaving a blank column for most of the page).

My question is whether you agree that this article would benefit from the extra two columns. Yes, it was a mess but I intended to do more research to add into the columns (as well as rely on a few other editors to add in). Perhaps if we could create a comprehensive list prior to posting it would help, but I wanted to bring the topic here before readding the columns. Thanks. Jns4eva (talk) 04:16, 26 April 2013 (UTC)

Well, it looks like someone beat me to the punch on recreating the off tv support column. I still would appreciate discussing the relevance of pro controller support and the added in column. Jns4eva (talk) 04:18, 26 April 2013 (UTC)
  • No Off TV Play Support - There's already a separate article that lists that at the Off TV Play article, and it's properly sourced for every entry. Too many columns clutter the list and make it difficult or overwhelming to read, and it's listed elsewhere, so it should definitely be removed here. I'm indifferent to the pro-controller one at this point. Sergecross73 msg me 16:46, 26 April 2013 (UTC)
  • No Off TV Play and Pro Controller Support - I have the same opinion as Sergecross73. Additional columns should be avoided if possible. Ratengo (talk) 06:06, 1 May 2013 (UTC)

Mario Kart 8 release dates

As an Australian, I am obviously going to be a little biased about this, but here goes. The release date for Mario Kart 8 is listed in this article as "Spring 2014" for Japan, Europe, North America, and Australia. "Spring" is technically a POV term for the northern hemisphere. See here, I guess? (English: "Out of season? That's a Northern Hemishphere POV!") The most reliable source for an Australian release date is NAL's website itself, which has it listed as Autumn 2014, as Autumn is of course the southern hemisphere equivalent of spring. So maybe the date for Australia should be listed as Autumn? But then it looks like there's a significant difference in release dates... On the game's dedicated article, it doesn't really matter because the overall date is just listed as spring and people from the south are usually used to converting seasons, but it's a bit more interesting here because of the region-specificness. What do you think should be done here? Leave it as-is or what? Thanks, DarkToonLinkHeyaah! 08:33, 28 August 2013 (UTC)

Yeah, its a recurring problem since video game companies tend to announce vague time frames in "seasons" and yet that violates WP:SEASON. The best attempt people have used to solve this in the past is to mention it in quarters. (ie Spring 2014 in NA would be Q1/Q2 range.) Personally, I don't think its a great solution, it makes the timeframe wider, and is commonly switched back by IPs or other people not familiar with this wiki-guideline, because they just switch it back to what the sources say. But that's all it is. Its up to you. You'd be in the right to change it to this, but you'd probably need to be ready to enforce it, or it'll just be changed back... (Hopefully a better timeframe will be announced an it'll soon be a non-issue.) Sergecross73 msg me 12:33, 28 August 2013 (UTC)
Oh thanks, I wasn't actually aware of that official documentation. Specifics will probably announced soon which will be better, but for the moment I will change it to autumn with that source, and change some others as well. If someone changes them back, I guess they can join the discussion here. Thanks, DarkToonLinkHeyaah! 02:49, 29 August 2013 (UTC)

120 Indie Games

I think we have a lot of work to do on this:http://nintendoenthusiast.com/article/120-upcoming-wii-u-games-indie/ — Preceding unsigned comment added by 107.9.240.9 (talk) 00:49, 10 February 2014 (UTC)

As long as every single game is properly sourced and confirmed to launch on Wii U, then yes, we have a lot of work to do. Thanks for the heads up.
Note: We should first start to merge the Retail software and Download software table to better fit and integrate the design of other lists of games on Wikipedia, such as List of PlayStation 4 games and List of Xbox One games.--Arkhandar (TalkContribs) 13:06, 16 February 2014 (UTC)

Rename

@Arkhandar: Hey bro. Why did you just rename the article? You renamed it from the optimally succinct name to a needlessly superfluous one, and with no discussion. ^_^ — Smuckola (Email) (Talk) 00:29, 23 August 2014 (UTC)

Yeah, it would have been nice to discuss first. I don't believe there's much precedent for naming any articles like this... Sergecross73 msg me 01:15, 23 August 2014 (UTC)
Hey! It looks like I may have acted a little too boldly again, but since I don't usually see a lot of editors editing the article I thought nobody cared really. I guess I was wrong on that one (fortunately :D). As for why I moved the article, it just seemed like the right title to me. "Software" includes a lot of stuff that isn't here (and that doesn't belong here either), including the operating system's shenanigans, drivers, kernels, libraries and whatnot. "Games" and "Applications" being the names of the two main sections I thought "Heck, why not?". I guess a little too boldly perhaps. :/ --Arkhandar (TalkContribs) 02:48, 23 August 2014 (UTC)
@Arkhandar and Sergecross73:Hey there, bro. I believe that's what this is for:

{{about|retail software, such as games and applications|the operating system and accessory software|Wii U system software}}

I cribbed that from the top of Nintendo. I'm pretty sure "retail" covers anything that gets checked out with a payment method, whether in a physical store or on eShop, but correct me if I'm wrong. I would say that part of the reason why you thought nobody was around, is because you and a couple of other people do such an excellent job by yourself here. Every time I've ever come here to record some brand new game that I heard about, it's already here! Thanks.— Smuckola (Email) (Talk) 03:23, 23 August 2014 (UTC)
@Smuckola:I won't say no to that, seems like a good solution. We just need to get in contact with an administrator to revert the move. Again, sorry about that, I'll be more careful in the future. Oh, and your welcome. I try to do my best. Thanks! :) --Arkhandar (TalkContribs) 15:49, 23 August 2014 (UTC)
@Arkhandar: Basically when you said that "Software" includes a lot of stuff that doesn't belong here, that's exactly why there's a section on System software, with a {{main}}. So this truly is the list of all Wii U software, with a branch article into Wii U system software and so forth. So upon reviewing the article content as such, I'm now thinking that even my {{about}} suggestion was redundant as well. I think there truly was absolutely no problem whatsoever to begin with. So in summary, we have addressed and answered the originally implied question of "Unilaterally rename articles? Heck, why not?" ^_^ — Smuckola (Email) (Talk) 22:20, 23 August 2014 (UTC)
You've basically summed it up. :D No objections, sir! --Arkhandar (TalkContribs) 00:35, 24 August 2014 (UTC)
@Arkhandar: The ultimate culprit here is probably Wikipedia's lack of table of contents, or any sort of normal interrelation and visual navigation between articles. I'm way beyond sick of having to read and comprehend and memorize inordinate volumes of text across overlapping topics, just to know what to put where. But as it happens, your many contributions across so many boundaries has actually helped to direct my attention to precisely those ends nonetheless!  :-D — Smuckola (Email) (Talk) 00:47, 24 August 2014 (UTC)
@Sergecross73:Hey Serge. Arkhandar was wanting you to undo this or something. What do you say to that? — Smuckola (Email) (Talk) 12:05, 27 August 2014 (UTC)
Sure. To confirm, "List of Wii U software" is what is agreed upon, correct? I'd support that too. Sergecross73 msg me 13:00, 27 August 2014 (UTC)
@Sergecross73: Yeah I didn't know that there's a revert function for renaming, but he just said you can do that if you please. That would take it back to the original "List of Wii U software". — Smuckola (Email) (Talk) 13:13, 27 August 2014 (UTC)
Did I do it right? I just ask because it didn't require me to use any of my admin priviledges, like page deletion, to do it... Sergecross73 msg me 15:45, 27 August 2014 (UTC)

Proposed change: "QX 201X" to "201X QX"

The other day, I decided to be bold and changed all instances of "QX 201X" to "201X QX" so that, when the table is sorted by release date, it will list games coming Q4 2014 before those coming Q1 2015. In my edit summary, I invited anyone who knew which rules/policies/traditions (including those of WikiProject Video Games), if any, apply to revert the edit if it conflicted with them. So should it stay the way I've changed it or go back to the original format? Takinzinnia (talkcontribs) 02:34, 7 October 2014 (UTC)

Please tell me we are NOT going back to 201X QX. If we are (I mean you guys, since you like to have control over these game pages), then after the July 21st Nintendo game updates to Wii U and 3DS, I'm going to have to leave for a long while, to make sure things don't change into ridiculous edits like this, and I really don't want to do that. So please don't change this any further. Zacharyalejandro (talk) 04:43, 19 July 2016 (UTC)

The exclusivity definitions aren't being followed

The page says, "The column "Exclusive" indicates whether the Wii U is the only platform on which the game is available. This does not include handheld game consoles or mobile phones which generally run a completely different version of the game under the same name. A value of Console for exclusivity means that, while a title may be available as an arcade game or on a personal computer operating system such as Microsoft Windows, Linux, or Mac OS X, it is not natively available on any video game console other than the Wii U. A value of Nintendo for exclusivity means that the game is only available on Nintendo video game consoles." According to the very first definition, a game that's only on Wii U and 3DS should be a "Yes" exclusive for Wii U, but the page lists a few titles in that situation (Mighty Switch Force series, Sonic Lost World) as "Nintendo" exclusive. Anyway, what I'm getting at is this makes it difficult to make a game count with an accurate exclusivity breakdown. I'll correct them right now and then re-do my count. Usually, its based on either what region it applies to, or whatever region's style was used first, similar to WP:STOPCHANGINGIT. Since its a global one, the region part doesn't really apply. Technically, you should stick with the first one if you can't come to an agreement. If the only ones who are maintaining it prefer a different status though, I see no harm in it as long as its consistent. I personally don't care, just wanted to throw that out there. Meta-Scores

This is my first time editing the talk page so sorry if I am messing this up. Can we start to include the MetaScores as a column in lists of games? I think it would be helpful. Alex

The chart is already pretty cluttered and overwhelming. If anything I feel like we should be scaling it back some. These game lists have never had metascores on them, though I can't think of any policy that would disallow it... Sergecross73 msg me 20:13, 16 April 2015 (UTC)

Would GameFAQs be considered as a place where release dates are accurate?

Hello. I was wondering if it would be acceptable for having a website called GameFAQs (a review/release date website) as pointing out release dates for Wii U. If you have any questions, please feel free to notify me. Zacharyalejandro (talk) 15:56, 1 September 2015 (UTC)

Hi there. Good question, but no, it is not. Their release dates are submitted by everyday people, not professionals/writers/editors/journalists. As such, it would fail WP:RS, specifically WP:USERG. For future reference, there's a huge list of usable, and non-usable sources, documented over at WP:VG/S. Sergecross73 msg me 16:33, 1 September 2015 (UTC)

I have went to try and find some exclusivity of some games that have or are appearing on numerous platforms other than the Wii U, and I am very confused with what kind of exclusivity one specific game needs that are labeled with TBA or 2015 release. If anyone can help me clarify this, because it is very confusing to me, thanks so much. Zacharyalejandro (talk) 05:13, 10 October 2015 (UTC)Zacharyalejandro

Updated game count.

According to Nintendo.com, the list is said to have 630 games. But this list however, is missing 10 games. Can someone update the game count? Zacharyalejandro (talk) 06:34, 12 October 2015 (UTC)Zacharyalejandro

A few months ago, someone came by with a program s/he created that counted up the games. Personally, I don't want to try counting all the games by hand since that would take too long and I'd probably make a mistake. I'd rather wait for that person to come by and do another count with the program. Takinzinnia (talkcontribs) 19:52, 12 October 2015 (UTC)

Ping 1.5+ reference help

Regarding the name of the reference pointed to Ping 1.5+, the first name is only present, and not the last. So if the first name is only shown like for example: Shawn W. or just Shawn. Does it still need the last name, or can it just be the first? Zacharyalejandro (talk) 17:08, 23 October 2015 (UTC)

Wiki seems to be happy with |author= than |first= for the author with single name. Rukario-sama ^ㅈ^ -(...) 02:20, 29 October 2015 (UTC)

Multiplatform or Timed for games that was previously "Console" exclusive?

It's pretty common sense to label the game as "Timed" when that game, which was previously exclusive to Wii U, is now available on the other platforms. This should also applies to those that happen to be "console" exclusives at later times. But what about those that labeled as "console" exclusive from the start? Should it still be labeled as "timed" or should it be labeled as "multiplatform" instead? What about those such as Shovel Knight that launched for Wii U and other non-console platforms on the same day? Rukario-sama ^ㅈ^ -(...) 10:07, 21 November 2015 (UTC)

On List of PlayStation 4 games and List of Xbox One games a title is marked as 'timed' up until the day of release on competing platform(s). At this point, the status is updated to multiplatform. Continuing to define a title as timed, after the timed exclusivity period has expired, only serves to confuse people. The same rule holds for console exclusives. — TPX 07:33, 22 November 2015 (UTC)
It seems we have different definition of what "Timed" means in the exclusivity list. What you're saying is that the game that's exclusive to the platform will be "timed" when it was announced for other platforms but is not available for them just yet, right? In my definition, when it's announced and/or released for other platforms, it will be "timed" and it's permanent. It means that, it was exclusive to specific platform only for a limited time. Rukario-sama ^ㅈ^ -(...) 09:04, 22 November 2015 (UTC)
Yes, we appear to have two different definitions. So on Xbox Rise of the Tomb Raider is listed as a timed exclusive until the day it releases on PS4, at which point the entry is updated from timed to multiplatform. Continuing to say something is timed or a full console exclusive, once the exclusivity window expires, could have the unintentional effect of misleading visitors. — TPX 17:42, 22 November 2015 (UTC)
I don't think the "Timed" exclusive should exist in the exclusive list if it's not for permanent. The exclusive game can be labelled straight to "multiplatform" just fine when it's announced/released for another platform. If you're worried for the potential confusions to the readers then we can write what it means in the exlusivity key list. Rukario-sama ^ㅈ^ -(...) 10:32, 24 November 2015 (UTC)
I'm struggling to understand your reasoning. It's well established that many titles have an exclusivity window: these are sometimes planned in advance and sometimes they are ad hoc, depending on how many resources a developer has available to them. You seem happy to update and amend the table when a developer has a change of plan after bringing a previous 'console' exclusive to additional platforms (e.g. ZombiU) yet, at the same time, you don't appear to recognise the value of denoting 'timed' exclusives (e.g. Rise of the Tomb Raider) unless the 'timed' exclusivity status remains permanent, long after its availability on other platforms. For me, the whole point of a table is to help inform the reader regarding a title's current status and release date. Thus, when a former exclusive title becomes available on other platforms, we should amend the table to reflect its current availability -- not merely to preserve for eternity some prior understanding that ceases to be relevant. Perhaps other editors may wish to comment but List of PlayStation 4 games, List of Xbox One games and List of video game exclusives (eighth generation) are all updated to reflect the present situation, not as things temporarily stood in the past. — TPX 16:06, 24 November 2015 (UTC)
This is Wikipedia. Everything should be encyclopedic. There are several exceptions, such as the future/current/past tenses and release date placeholders. I hope these "Timed" -> "Multiplatform" changes based on your definition in the PS4 and Xbox One's game list aren't coming from you and you alone. Rukario-sama ^ㅈ^ -(...) 01:00, 6 December 2015 (UTC)
Lots of different editors have changed the status of a PlayStation/Xbox title when fresh information became available. But let's put it to the test, shall we, and take the discussion to Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Video games. Agree? — TPX 20:55, 6 December 2015 (UTC)

Remaining 2015 dates for all regions

Since 2015 is coming to a close sometime the following week after next week, I would think that if there's still a lot of remaining 2015 dates that haven't been released yet, they would possibly be moved to 2016 until an actual date is otherwise been established. Thanks in advance. Zacharyalejandro (talk) 19:59, 21 December 2015 (UTC)

Why remove this template?

I've tried to replace number of games with

{{table row counter|id=softwarelist|ignore=3}}

that will count the rows in the table automatically, but was reverted by one user with no explanation. May I ask why? Rukario-sama ^ㅈ^ -(...) 05:04, 2 January 2016 (UTC)

What's with Zacharyalejandro kept removing this template in favor of a fixed value? Rukario-sama ^ㅈ^ -(...)
Last time before I'd reload old revision before each time it was removed. Rukario-sama ^ㅈ^ -(...) 23:50, 29 January 2016 (UTC)
Well as it was before that template was put in place, future games need to be counted when released, like so

As of yyyy-mm-dd, There have been 679 games on this list

That would correctly be displayed on the edit page when editing such software, instead of the table row stuff that you started putting in. I would recommend leaving it up the way it was when I edited it. Zacharyalejandro (talk) 00:52, 31 January 2016 (UTC)

Nobody willing to count the game from the list manually or through Notepad++ and/or will be out of sync over time without that template. As such example, you've always put a fixed value plus one. Let the template do the job. It will only update after the changes made to the page and not edit page preview. Rukario-sama ^ㅈ^ -(...) 02:35, 31 January 2016 (UTC)
So if I put in Level 22, which was released on January 28th, does that number change by itself, or how does this work? Sorry, I'm just used to the List of Nintendo 3DS games page because there's no need for extra numbers on there. Zacharyalejandro (talk) 17:34, 8 February 2016 (UTC)
It'll update itself. I think it checks for "|-" from the table to count (which is a syntax for new row of the table and hence this template's name) and it'll try to count again on each change made to the page. Rukario-sama ^ㅈ^ -(...) 07:19, 9 February 2016 (UTC)
Does this apply to the exclusive columns? Zacharyalejandro (talk) 02:07, 10 February 2016 (UTC)
Might be possible with different templates, or create new, I'll try to think of codes that will make that possible. Maybe not gonna work though. Rukario-sama ^ㅈ^ -(...) 11:39, 17 October 2016 (UTC)

Japanese release dates.

Hello. I am wondering where some of the Japan release dates are for the games that are available for Europe and North America. Is a Japanese date coming soon? Or is it cancelled? If there are not any games released or have info on the Nintendo of Japan's website, I'd be willing to put them as unreleased. Also because there has not been any updates on the games that are available or upcoming in Japan, why keep them as TBA if they hadn't had a release date for a specific game when EU/NA's release has been announced days, weeks, or months prior than Japan's? Zacharyalejandro (talk) 02:31, 12 March 2016 (UTC)Zacharyalejandro

Number of exclusive games.

Could the exclusive numbers of the games be updated automatically just like the expansive list of games? I just find it difficult trying to add more games and then backtrack and add the exclusive columns. Zacharyalejandro (talk) 02:05, 5 April 2016 (UTC)Zacharyalejandro

We're about to hit post-expand include size limit

Post-expand include size 2081762/2097152 bytes

This is what happens after ref column was removed:

Post-expand include size 682639/2097152 bytes

The source lines made up 67% (1,399,123 bytes) of this post-expand include size.

We should cut or clean up source lines to regain some include size for the upcoming games. First, I'd like to know if the author names are relevant. I have the batch replacement codes prepared for that for Notepad++ users.

1. Load article editing source into Notepad++
2. Search > Replace... (or hit Ctrl + H)
3. Enable Search Mode: Regular Expression

4. Replace (all)
\|first=(.*?)([\|].*?)
,
\|last=(.*?)([\|].*?)
,
\|first1=(.*?)([\|].*?)
,
\|last1=(.*?)([\|].*?)
, and
\|author=(.*?)([\|].*?)
with
|

What else should be cleaned up? Certainly we could remove or replace the old source with new one but I'm not going to do it myself. It seems laborious. Someone else could try though. Rukario-sama ^ㅈ^ -(...) 04:41, 29 April 2016 (UTC)

I'm considering removing all instances of "|date=" from the ref source. Anyone up for it? What's use with it when it comes to this game list though? We have "|accessdate=" on the other hand. Rukario-sama ^ㅈ^ -(...) 04:50, 10 May 2016 (UTC)
Speaking of, could we remove some of the stuff, like first= and last= from the List of Nintendo 3DS games to preserve some space? Zacharyalejandro (talk) 17:33, 9 June 2016 (UTC)

In response to Zachary's undo editing summary

I don't think "As of (date)" should apply to the number that updates automatically by a script. Is it just my grammar that's bad? I'll redo my edit soon if there's no partial redo or no response on this. Rukario-sama ^ㅈ^ -(...) 03:58, 9 May 2016 (UTC)

List should be sortable by games on disk vs eshop

There should be some way to sort the list by retail games, so that eshop games can be filtered out 82.29.51.91 (talk) 15:32, 31 May 2016 (UTC)

Sort the eShop column then scroll down to "No" cell, it implies disc-only, "Yes" implies both. Rukario-sama ^ㅈ^ -(...) 16:19, 31 May 2016 (UTC)

Australian release dates.

Some games include a release date for Australia. Super Mario Maker was released on September 12, 2015 in Australia. There are also others that are not available in Europe and instead Australia has the date. So could we add a section for Australia so that way we don't just cram AUS to the European spot. Scribblenauts Unlimited was released in Australia, not Europe. Hopefully we can add a section of releases for Australia. Zacharyalejandro (talk) 23:00, 18 June 2016 (UTC)

Wouldn't AUS in superscript after the date be enough? List of Wii games and List of GameCube games does it. Though perhaps not good for sorting. They have conserved the table width well for narrowed browsers nevertheless. Rukario-sama ^ㅈ^ -(...) 03:21, 23 June 2016 (UTC)
It would possibly be confusing to readers as well if we just cram release dates for Europe and Australia into one, and just naming said date for AUS, would be more confusing and would've conserved the width as what you said. Zacharyalejandro (talk) 03:53, 23 June 2016 (UTC)
We really only have to label the Australian release dates in Europe column as AUS, or "AUS,EU" if their release dates are same. Release date without superscript means only for Europe. How is it confusing? I regret adding another column for Australian release date. The table already felt too massive for a mere list of games. 😱 Rukario-sama ^ㅈ^ -(...) 09:31, 30 June 2016 (UTC)

Color schemes

Further to this discussion, we have yet to agree on a color set—consistent across Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft list articles—for exclusive, timed and multiplatform titles. — TPX 21:07, 26 June 2016 (UTC)

File size limit

Does this article exceed the file size limit? I am unable to edit the page. It sends my request to Wikipedia but times-out. I have tried several times now yet the result is the same. — TPX 13:27, 15 February 2017 (UTC)

Regarding size limit of the article, I'm thinking of downsizing the majority of the same citations with a ref tag. But I don't know how to name a reference to the same article with the same information. Could you help by providing an example of some references like on List of Wii U software?
