Permanently protecting this page

edit

The info on this page is pretty unchanging. Sure, there might be an addition or deletion based on new research, and it is possible that a jet pilot might get his name included in the list of aces, but those things are fairly unlikely in the foreseeable future. What do folks think about having this page on a sort of permanent protected status. It seems to get vandalized pretty regularly by anonymous users who appear to be adding their own names or someone that a quick search reveals should not be on this list, and protecting this page would prevent that kind of vandalism. The only people who really need to edit this page are the sort who will have a WP account. Geeman 10:14, 3 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

The page does NOT meet Wikipedia criteria for protection. — ERcheck (talk) 18:02, 2 December 2007 (UTC)Reply
Perhaps we can think outside the box just a bit here and extend the policy into protecting pages that are "static" for all intents and purposes. Geeman (talk) 22:16, 25 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
There are minor changes that people with a personal interest might make - in my case, my uncle, was listed as "Porky" Edward Cragg, when the proper listing of his name (and associated biographical article) should be Edward "Porky" Cragg. I also noticed that the "C" section was woefully out of alphabetical order, which I restored

Richard Bong

where is Richard Bong? not in the list? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.49.77.82 (talk) 00:19, 1 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

George E. Preddy, Jr

edit

I don't see Maj Preddy on this list. I served in the Va Air National Guard 192FW 149th Fighter squadron which was activated in 1946 and entitled to the history, honors, and colors of the 328th, Maj Preddy's unit in WWII, and therefore know he had 27 kills.

Ace Status Validation

edit

I have just reversed an entry for a Robert Jennings as the Air Force Historical Agency has no record of his credits.

Before entering someone, please confirm their status at http://www.au.af.mil/au/afhra/avc.asp

His name is outside of the table, someone who is a better editor than me may want to consider putting it in the table (I tried to and couldn't figure it out). If nothing else it may be a good idea just because he was Black (he was a Red Tail) and there is the whole issue of segregation. Just a thought. 137.83.70.125 (talk) 02:58, 17 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
