- Not done: as you have not cite reliable sources to back up your request, without which no information should be added to, or changed in, any article.
This article has specific criteria - as stated above:-
- All new entries must be for artists who have received significant coverage in one or more reliable sources.
- A high number of views alone (i.e. without such sources) is not sufficient reason to add an artist to the list.
- The number of subscribers itself is not a relevant reason to include an artist.

VEVO channels in "by subscribers" section
I've mentioned this before, but I bring it back up because I see that VEVO channels are once again added to the "by subscribers" section. VEVO channels are not maintained (and perhaps not even monitored) by the artists who are in their videos. These channels do not have a defined personality since they are run by companies. Furthermore, artists with videos on VEVO channels don't fit into the youtube community as the others in the list do. Since this page is meant to be a list of youtube personalities, shouldn't it be free of non-personality channels? Eventhorizon51 (talk) 05:32, 7 December 2014 (UTC)

Reference threshold for inclusion?
I see the edit notice has some specific requirements for someone to be listed here. What's less clear is what constitutes sufficient reliable sourcing to include someone who does not have a Wikipedia article.
Personally, I'm almost always against including those not notable enough for a WP article so long as there are sufficient subjects with Wikipedia articles to justify a stand-alone list (and there's no shortage here). The usual exception, if any, for those without articles is typically if the person is notable but does not yet have an article (i.e. either they could have an article that wouldn't be deleted on WP:N grounds or they are notable but don't merit a stand-alone article).
Many of those without articles in this list are sourced to e.g. CNN, Forbes, and other top tier sources such that they could be seen as notable. Others do not. Just going down the list, for example, the first one with only one source and no article is SkyDoesMineCraft. The lone source, a Joystiq article is only a brief mention. Only a little bit better is Daniel Hardcastle, with one decent ref and one brief mention that I still wouldn't consider sufficient.
...But I know this topic has been belabored a number of times, so perhaps what I'm asking is for what the consensus is on this question and when is it ok to remove a name from the list? --— Rhododendrites talk \\ 22:18, 9 January 2015 (UTC)
- Surprised not to get any responses to this. I just ran through the list looking at those entries which don't have Wikipedia articles and removed those with very poor sourcing such that there's clearly no claim to notability. I feel like I was conservative in this regard and certainly wouldn't object, as with most lists on Wikipedia, if someone else wanted to remove all entries that don't have articles per WP:CSC. Also did some formatting and reduced the size of the otherwise obnoxiously large Yogscast table row. --— Rhododendrites talk \\ 19:49, 13 February 2015 (UTC)

RfC: VEVO channels in "by subscribers" section
The following discussion is closed. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on the appropriate discussion page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.
I'm starting a new section with an RfC because it seems like no one really cares to respond to anything on this talk page. As I said above, VEVO channels are not maintained (and perhaps not even monitored) by the artists who are in their videos. These channels do not have a defined personality since they are run by companies. Furthermore, artists with videos on VEVO channels don't fit into the youtube community as the others in the list do. Since this page is meant to be a list of youtube personalities, shouldn't the "by subscribers" section be free of non-personality channels? Eventhorizon51 (talk) 02:33, 4 January 2015 (UTC)
- I say get rid of the "by subscribers" list altogether (on this page, that is). It's awkwardly tacked on and already has its own article. It's ideal for a see also link. That it includes names that are not on the bigger list of personalities (i.e. this article) indicates that it isn't even a subset of this list but rather of a list of youtube channels and thus even more awkward. Just coming from a good encyclopedic listmaking perspective (i.e. not interested in evaluating how well people fit into the youtube community, nor who runs a particular account), I say cut it. --— Rhododendrites talk \\ 04:31, 8 January 2015 (UTC)
- I think I would agree with that. Now that you mention it, the way the by subscriber list is presented on this page is indeed a bit awkward. It's not very noteworthy in the context of this article and there is a whole separate page for that. Removing it would definitely clean this page up a bit. Eventhorizon51 (talk) 00:06, 9 January 2015 (UTC)
- Given this RfC appears to be due to lack of responses to your initial comments about this subject (rather than due to disagreement from others), and because this seems like a pretty solid move in terms of policy/guideline precedent (MOS in particular), I'm going to go ahead and boldly remove the section as both improper and unnecessary. As I am operating under the assumption that this is not controversial, I'd invite anyone who disagrees to go ahead and revert. --— Rhododendrites talk \\ 05:09, 9 January 2015 (UTC)

- Agree to exclude That is correct, VEVO are corporate entities, not personalities -- corporations are not people despite what corporations and their right wing pro-fascism political puppets would like to pretend. Remember, Wikipedia is supposed to be encyclopedic, and the word "personality" refers to living animals. VEVO is not a living creature, and as you noted, it is an advertising propaganda media for a corporation, ergo it should be excluded. Damotclese (talk) 16:52, 12 January 2015 (UTC)
- Exclude If nothing else give it the ole chop chop. Zero Serenity (talk - contributions) 17:04, 12 January 2015 (UTC)
- Weak Exclude I tend to agree, but a separate article dedicated to a list of Vevo channels might be desirable, and could be linked with a brief explanation. Wwwhatsup (talk) 23:44, 13 January 2015 (UTC)
- Exclude Vevo is not a personality. Simple enough. Willhesucceed (talk) 13:30, 18 January 2015 (UTC)

Raising the Threshold
The list feels like it is becoming bloated. I'm wondering if it is a good idea to raise the threshold of inclusion from having a reliable source to having an actual article. Anybody's thoughts? Zero Serenity (talk - contributions) 20:35, 18 February 2015 (UTC)
- I fully agree, Zero Serenity an article on the English Wikipedia should be required for all entries.
- This has been discussed before, but the list is increasingly being padded-out with non-notable "fancruft" entries, often added by a fan, or even the "personality"(sic) themselves.
- As the current inclusion criteria were set by an RFC here, it will need another RFC to agree changes to the consensus. - Arjayay (talk) 13:24, 24 February 2015 (UTC)

Request to add TeamFourStar to the list. Members of this channel include Lawrence Simpson (MasakoX), Curtis Arnott (Takahata101), Nick Landis (Lanipator) and Scott Frerichs (KaiserNeko). They're known for creating a parody of Dragonball Z known as Dragonball Z: The Abridged Series (similar to Martin Billany's series parodying Yu-Gi-Oh!). Scott, Nick and Curtis have gained particular notoriety for this series, with various voice acting castings as a direct result of the series. Of particular note is Curtis' appearance in Dragon Ball XenoVerse, reusing the voice of Nappa from the parody series along with references to it. Other notable roles in the group include the English dubbed version of the anime The Ambition of Oda Nobuna (Scott and Nick) and Dust: An Elysian Tale (Curtis). I would like to add Keith Hughes (historian) as a Youtube Personality. Reason is that he hosts an award-winning educational channel that focuses on government, politics and history that is seen in classrooms all over the world.[1][2]
Because of his YouTube channel he has crossed over to Television in two separate series. Additionally I am also building his Wiki page and I'd like to have both link back to each other. To be honest this is my first edit request, so I am not exactly sure if I am just asking permission before editing or I should give my code? Thanks! Chaslage (talk) 06:57, 28 March 2015 (UTC)

Addition of 6.5 Guys to list of YouTube personalities
Hello,
I am new to Wikipedia so thank you in advance for your patience as I make my first suggestion.
I would like to add 6.5 Guys to the list of YouTube personalities. The channel can be found here: [1]
The channel contains 63 videos that focus on the sport of long range precision shooting. Here's a description:
"6.5 Guys chronicles the journey of two middle aged men in the Pacific Northwest as we strive for excellence in our chosen sport of precision long range shooting. While working our day jobs and providing for our families, we want to see how far we can take our pursuit with a bit of concerted effort. You will observe first hand as we figure out what works and doesn’t work for us."

Activity Threshold?
There appears to be a number of YouTube users on here that are only known for one viral video years ago, but have had limited interaction with their audience/haven't produced any valuable content since then. Seriously, is there any specific need for the one-hit-wonders like Laughing Baby or even Samwell on here? They may have culturally significant viral videos, but are they really to be held on the same level as people like PewDiePie who churn out new content every week? I think a one-year date of publication threshold should be implemented for the sources. Anyone else can just have their own article exemplifying them, if they're even that noteable. --Molandfreak (talk, contribs, email) 08:50, 11 March 2015 (UTC)
I think I agree... unless the one time viral video star is a founder of a specific type of new genre of content. If that's the case maybe they can be added to a different type of article. Maybe genre types on the actual youtube article? I just looked at this article and creator adam buckley had his article removed, should he still be featured on this list of youtube personalities if other editors voted to remove his page?Gbklyn (talk) 18:58, 6 April 2015 (UTC)

The right column for Brady Haran should read "Journalist." He being an educator isn't incorrect, but even his own Wikipedia page lists him as being a videojournalist. Most of his work is him filming various scientists and scholars discussing science-related things. Brady doesn't do much of the actual educating. Markrobertgould (talk) 22:26, 30 June 2015 (UTC) Markrobertgould (talk) 22:26, 30 June 2015 (UTC)
- Independent sources used at Brady Haran predominantly describe him as a "journalist" or "video journalist", though the "video" bit is probably superfluous when we're talking about YouTube. Agreed and Done. Thanks, Adrian J. Hunter(talk•contribs) 12:55, 2 July 2015 (UTC)

I am requesting to add Youtuber BradTheLadLong to the list. He is probably one of the most controversial Youtubers of all time for being linked to scandals and stories and has been in the press rumoured for shows like Celebrity Big Brother, I'm A Celebrity[2] and other reality shows. He has been linked to a lot of scandals such as the notorious 'Dress Debate'.[3]
and the live proposal on Coronation Street.[4]
He was all over the UK press when he slated soap opera EastEnders as 'fake and scripted.'[5]
Public feuds, one of which with fellow rumoured Celebrity Big Brother contestant Tila Tequila where he accused her of threatening to beat him with a pipe.[6]

- Not done: I'm sorry, but you do not appear to be notable enough to meet the requirements for the list. Keep in mind that we need an article on Wikipedia about you before we'll add most people to the list; see this page for details. Please do not try and create an article about yourself on Wikipedia, as autobiographies are generally not accepted here. If you are genuinely notable for the list, someone else may eventually create an article about you, or you can request it here. —k6ka 🍁 (Talk · Contributions) 00:33, 23 November 2015 (UTC)

- A link to the person's YouTube page is not an independent source and the number of subscribers the person has means nothing to us. Wikipedia works off of reliable sources and has different guidelines on what makes a person notable. --Stabila711 (talk) 07:32, 25 November 2015 (UTC)
James Rolfe's accounts
The article currently states: "Cinemassacre (formerly JamesNintendoNerd)..."
I believe this is a misleading use of that table column; my understanding was that for accounts created before the Google+ integration, what belongs there is the internal account name as it appears in URLs. If I recall correctly, he had an account as Cinemassacre
for film reviews unrelated to the AVGN series, but it was suspended for copyright reasons. His current account is named JamesNintendoNerd
internally, but it is configured to display its name as "Cinemassacre."
How could we clarify this? --SoledadKabocha (talk) 20:44, 11 December 2015 (UTC)

- As should be evident from the various rejected edit requests, we require significant coverage in multiple independent news sources; subscriber or view counts hold no weight by themselves. In the 'R' section of the list, you forgot a YouTuber that has at least over 1 million subscribers on YouTube.
Her name is Rachel Ballinger, she is best known as the assistant for Miranda Sings, or her Q&A video named "Rachel's Room", and her Random Tuesdays(formerly "What Pisses Me Off"). I think Rachel Ballinger qualifies for the list, and should be added on to the list. I didn't really see her on the list, and if she was, sorry bout that.
Also, she is the sister of Colleen Ballinger Evans.
Here's a link to her YouTube Channel in case you're interested: https://www.youtube.com/user/NOVAQUA
Hopefully she gets added to the list, because she's a pretty awesome and important(in some way) youtuber! Justanotherkid123 (talk) 21:34, 31 December 2015 (UTC)

- Not done Wikipedia does not exist to advertise anything, including Youtube channels. If you satisfy Wikipedia's notability guidelines, then probably someone else will create an article about you. If not, you should not try to get yourself listed: doing so is contrary to the guidelines on conflict of interest. The editor who uses the pseudonym "JamesBWatson" (talk) 16:23, 28 January 2016 (UTC)
Proposal to set clear inclusion criteria
There have been many partial discussions on this topic. There may have been a fruitful discussion at some point, and indeed the top of this page includes a banner which says "Entries without reliable sources will be removed," but that could be interpreted to include, for example, a person whose only coverage is a brief mention in a Gawker list of top 100 cooking vloggers. Whatever the inclusion criteria is, it's been inconsistently applied and inconsistently interpreted.
Here is an actual proposal. Please indicate whether you support or oppose this proposal:
- All YouTubers included in this list should either (a) have their own Wikipedia article, or (b) include citations of reliable sources which are independent of the subject and which demonstrate notability for their activity on YouTube (regardless of whether or not that notability justifies a stand-alone article).
I think that some people are under the impression this is already the case, but the condition of the list and other opinions show this not to be the case.
This page is busy enough to merit this sort of quasi-formally discussed proposal, but I do not think an RfC is necessary at this time. If it proves particularly contentious, that will probably be a sensible route though.
- Support of course — Rhododendrites talk \\ 23:18, 9 January 2016 (UTC)
- Support in principle. However, I would delete the word secondary because secondary sources are not absolutely required but are only strongly advised.
I would also eliminate the 12-word parenthetic phrase because the notability in part (b) would seem to inherently justify a stand-alone article in all cases.—RCraig09 (talk) 00:16, 10 January 2016 (UTC)
- @RCraig09: From WP:N
"Sources"[2] should be secondary sources, as those provide the most objective evidence of notability.
The more important thing is that they're independent of the subject, but "significant coverage in reliable secondary sources that are independent of the subject" is the standard summary for what notability requires. Also, see WP:NOPAGE. Notability explicitly does not inherently justify a stand-alone article. — Rhododendrites talk \\ 00:25, 10 January 2016 (UTC)
- I'm not sure where you got your "significant coverage..." quote: the General notability guidelines describe "reliable sources" (not reliable secondary sources) independent of the subject that can allow us to presume the topic to be suitable for a standalone article; secondary sources thus do not appear to be required; sources only "should be secondary sources" since they "provide the most objective evidence of notability." I now agree with your second point, since all along you were talking specifically about a standalone article, and I am sheepishly striking through that part of my earlier comment. —RCraig09 (talk) 04:57, 10 January 2016 (UTC)
- It sounds like what you're taking issue is comes down to the word "should" not being absolute regarding secondary sources? I mean, all guidelines are "shoulds", since they're guidelines rather than policies. They dictate what should happen, but with the underlying assumption that exceptions are possible. I would also point out that the wording specific to this page above includes "should", so I don't know how it could be said to be problematic in that regard. Sorry if I'm being dense here, but I'm not sure what we're arguing about. It seems like we agree :) — Rhododendrites talk \\ 05:41, 10 January 2016 (UTC)
- This said, I've replaced "secondary" with "independent of the subject". That's going to be the more crucial thing in the case of YouTubers anyway. — Rhododendrites talk \\ 05:42, 10 January 2016 (UTC)
- Excellent. I like that your proposed language has had "should" from the beginning. Agreed, re independent references. —RCraig09 (talk) 05:48, 10 January 2016 (UTC)
- @RCraig09: I realized I left out a crucial detail. As you are the only other person who has weighed in, I'm just mentioning it here (before it's too late to make such a change). I added "for their activity on YouTube". The idea is that the person should be notable as a YouTuber. Otherwise every notable company, musician, comedian, TV show, website, etc. who happens to have a YouTube channel could be included. It gets at the definition of the list scope ("YouTuber"). Is this fine with you? — Rhododendrites talk \\ 17:40, 10 January 2016 (UTC)
- Agree with Rhododendrites' 17:40, 10 January 2016 comment. Hopefully more people will weigh in to confirm consensus. —RCraig09 (talk) 18:00, 10 January 2016 (UTC)
- Afterthought: I first thought that part "(a)" of the proposed standard should also include part (b)'s requirement that the standalone article "demonstrate notability for their activity on YouTube." Then I realized that part "(a)" could be eliminated altogether since it would then (I believe) be subsumed under part "(b)" regardless of the (non)existence of a standalone article. Just a thought to consider. —RCraig09 (talk) 00:12, 12 January 2016 (UTC)
- I agree that part b) is a universal for Wikipedia content. Part a), if used in addition to b) would help with determining whether an entry should be included. An entry could be notable without a Wikipedia article, but an article would help demonstrate that notability.--3family6 (Talk to me | See what I have done) 00:27, 12 January 2016 (UTC)
- @RCraig09: From WP:N
- Comment - I'm surprised to see a lack of participation here. Well, not surprised, I guess, because last time I posted something of the sort nobody replied at all :/ Hopefully we can get one or two more people to weigh in. @3family6: It sounds like you're expressing agreement, but I'm not entirely sure. Are you supporting the proposed criteria? — Rhododendrites talk \\ 21:34, 17 January 2016 (UTC)
- "Rhododendrites: What I would support is a modification of the original proposal to this: "All YouTubers included in this list should include citations of reliable sources which are independent of the subject and which demonstrate notability for their activity on YouTube. Preferably, they should already have a Wikipedia article." The subject should be notable enough to have a stand-alone article, but I would not insist that the article already exist.--3family6 (Talk to me | See what I have done) 04:51, 18 January 2016 (UTC)
- Support I particularly like the bit about notability as a Youtuber. Personally I'd want to cut it down to only Youtubers that have passed WP:N and have their own article as this list is already massive and will likely only grow as more and more Youtubers become significantly notable, but I will of course bow to consensus. Cannolis (talk) 22:24, 17 January 2016 (UTC)
Implementation
With no opposition, a few in support, and several others in the archives expressing support for similar articulations of inclusion criteria, I'm going to go ahead and start implementing. It seems like there's a discussion to be had as to whether the text above should be modified to require an article rather than just cites sources which demonstrate WP:N. So I'll list those I remove which seem to clearly miss the notability mark and don't have an article, as well as those without an article that do cite sources which make a bit of a case for notability. — Rhododendrites talk \\ 23:35, 17 January 2016 (UTC)

Not yet checked: people with articles, are they notable as a YouTuber? — Rhododendrites talk \\ 23:35, 17 January 2016 (UTC)
- Noting another issue: is the subject people or channels (or something else)? I see Larry Kosilla listed, but his notability is tied to Drive (web series), and he's not one of the primary individuals involved. We also have a separate listing for Chris Harris (automotive journalist), who does have an article and is also tied to Drive, but who hasn't been associated with Drive in a while. If this list includes people or channels, we should probably have one line for Drive and separate lines for each individually notable person associated with Drive. If this list is just for people, how do we handle notable channels that are the product of multiple people, none of which are individually notable? I've removed Kosilla for now, since I don't see independent notability there and insufficient interchangeability with Drive to base notability on that. — Rhododendrites talk \\ 00:09, 18 January 2016 (UTC)
- Pentatonix is another tricky example. 5 people, 2 of which have articles; 6 channels, 1 of which has an article -- and none of them are called Pentatonix. — Rhododendrites talk \\ 00:21, 18 January 2016 (UTC)
- I think that a separate article for channels should be created. However, I would include links here to channels that are related to YouTubers who have a main individual channel - for instance, the entry to Rhett & Link (persons) should include in the additional channels section a link to Good Mythical Morning (a channel). Conversely, if an individual has a side channel, but are not notable enough individually to have an article about them, only the channel they create for, the link to the individual's channel should be included in the additional channels list for the yet-to-be-created channels article - for instance, Jordan and Amy Taylor from Blimey Cow are not notable as stand-alone individuals, but their individual channels should be listed as additional channels related to Blimey Cow.--3family6 (Talk to me | See what I have done) 04:51, 18 January 2016 (UTC)
- This one is going to be controversial but do we include musicians who were notable in their home countries long before YouTube gave them international notability such as Psy (who according to Wikipedia, had his first No. 1 in his home country in 2001 and had a number of top 10 hits since), because this is borderline to including anybody who has a Vevo account. Donnie Park (talk) 22:46, 28 January 2016 (UTC)
- @Donnie Park: Definitely a gray area. I think it has to come down to whether there are sources that show them to be notable for being a YouTuber. I have a hard time seeing any channel that's just music videos as a "YouTuber", though. Lots of things gets hits on YouTube, but it doesn't make them a YouTuber (which was previously "List of YouTube personalities"). There was a thread a while back in which it was decided (as I recall) not to include VEVO channels, for example, which are only music videos and run by a company rather than a person. It would surprised me if Psy's channel is run by Psy. So I guess the distinction is somewhere in the question of what distinguishes a YouTube personality or YouTuber from someone who is popular because of YouTube, which would necessarily include people like Leeroy Jenkins, who became a meme thanks to YouTube but who never really had any actual involvement with YouTube... — Rhododendrites talk \\ 16:37, 31 January 2016 (UTC)

- Not done Sorry, but in order to be included in this list, you have to prove notability. In order to do that, you'll need more than just numbers (and probably better numbers as well). -- Irn (talk) 10:30, 5 March 2016 (UTC)
Subscriber counts
the subscriber counts are all in different formats which means they are not shown in order when using the order option on the list. This means that all numbers need to be changed into a common format(unless there is a sneaky work around). We need to decide if they are shown in millions, i.e. 0.25 million & 4.5 million or as numbers i.e. 250,000 & 4,500,000
so when there needs to be some sort of consensus about which format, or you could just go ahead idk
(Fdsdh1 (talk) 22:10, 18 March 2016 (UTC))
- You know, we already have List of the most subscribed users on YouTube, which could always be expanded to include more if local consensus decided as much. There's really no reason for us to include these ever-changing figures in this table, too. This is not a list of YouTubers by subscribers; it's just a list of YouTubers. I would support the idea of just ditching that column altogether. — Rhododendrites talk \\ 02:58, 19 March 2016 (UTC)

James Rolfe's accounts
This is a repost from the archive, where I did not originally receive a reply.
I had made a factual error there by stating that the account internally named Cinemassacre
is currently suspended. My question should have read as follows:
The article currently states: "Cinemassacre (formerly JamesNintendoNerd)..."
I believe this is a misleading use of that table column; my understanding was that for accounts created before the Google+ integration, what belongs there is the internal account name as it appears in URLs. Currently, the primary account is the one that is internally named JamesNintendoNerd
and displayed as Cinemassacre; the account internally named Cinemassacre
displays as Cinemassacre Extra and is considered secondary.
I think the table cell should simply read "Cinemassacre, JamesNintendoNerd." Any further suggestions/clarifications? --SoledadKabocha (talk) 21:13, 13 June 2016 (UTC)

- Since Ahmad is not a significant YouTuber (his article was speedy deleted), I don't see why he should be added to the list. —C.Fred (talk) 01:29, 20 June 2016 (UTC)

SiIvaGunner channel?
Should the YouTube channel 'SiIvaGunner' have their own page? They create unique bait-and-switch video game OSTs in parody of the YouTube channel 'GilvaSunner'. Woot000 (talk) 04:18, 30 August 2016 (UTC)

Criteria?
What criteria is used to determine who is and is not in this list? Is there any methodology, or is it a free-for-all? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jcordone (talk • contribs) 21:19, 17 August 2016 (UTC)
- As far as I know there are two main criteria: that the person listed be notable, which is determined via the existence of an article on Wikipedia about that person, and that they be a YouTuber. Cheers, -- Irn (talk) 18:09, 30 August 2016 (UTC)
- Irn, you need credible outside sources. The whole part about being a YouTuber is a non-brainer. Mr. C.C.Hey yo!I didn't do it! 02:11, 2 September 2016 (UTC)
@Jcordone: The inclusion criteria I proposed last year, based on several previous threads (and relevant policies/guidelines), and which was implemented at the time unopposed, was: All YouTubers included in this list should either (a) have their own Wikipedia article, or (b) include citations of reliable sources which are independent of the subject and which demonstrate notability for their activity on YouTube (regardless of whether or not that notability justifies a stand-alone article).
At the time, that meant removing almost all of the YouTubers who don't have Wikipedia articles and a few people whose articles didn't indicate notability for being a YouTuber (even if they have a channel). There were a few without articles at the time that cited multiple reliable sources that showed something along the lines of notability, which remained in the article: Andrew Huang, Austin Haughwout, Davey Wavey, Jamie Curry (significant coverage via multiple citations of reliable sources independent of the subject). — Rhododendrites talk \\ 14:28, 11 September 2016 (UTC)
- So, basically, what they said, but Irn there has not been any formal decision to limit it to people with Wikipedia articles. You're welcome to propose that, of course, and I'd probably support it. I just wanted to establish something rather than have different people apply their own standards, which often conflicted. — Rhododendrites talk \\ 14:30, 11 September 2016 (UTC)

John & Hank Green separation
John and Hank Green are currently on the list jointly. I propose simply disentangling them. Although many of their most notable projects are together, they also do a significant amount without each other.
The brothers produce significant material with and without each other, though almost all of their work is under the same co-owned company which has recently changed its name.
Hank's popular non-John channels include SciShow, SciShow Space, and production projects like Pemberly Digital (they won an Emmy for The Lizzie Bennet Diaries), BrainScoop, Sexplanations, SciShow Kids, etc. Hank is significantly more active in the development and production of channels.
John's popular non-Hank channels include Mental Floss, and production of The Art Assignment. He also produces Health Care Triage and others.
Their conjoined channels include the various iterations of Crash Course and the VlogBrothers channel that started it all, and - I think the most notable - Project For Awesome.
Thanks for considering my proposal. Obviously, I am a fan of both.

Additional source reporting:
There are private owners, too. Alex Komechak lives near Tucson with her dromedaries Baby and Nessie, both acquired from a breeder in Texas. She became a viral star in a riotous YouTube video, Girl vs. Camel, in which she loses a footrace to one of her pets, and she and her pals were later featured on the Animal Planet series Bad Dog. She blogs about them at camelsandfriends.com.
Why camels?
“I’ve been a huge animal lover my entire life,” Komechak explains. “My main interests as a child were taking home toads and begging my mom to let me get a bird. I was also a big fan of the film Lawrence of Arabia.”
And then there’s Camel Day at Turf Paradise. On a Saturday afternoon this spring, the race track hosted its annual exhibition races of camels and ostriches, brought in from Texas for the promotional event. Camel owner Bill Rivers fondly introduced his big male, Aladdin, who’s a movie veteran – he was ridden by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson in The Scorpion King.
Like Komechak and Taylor, Rivers disputes the common notion that camels are ill-tempered animals. “They have that reputation, but it’s mostly myth; they’re very gentle creatures.” A minute or two with the serene-faced Aladdin suggests this is true.

Please change Mark Fischbach's subscriber amount to "over 15 million subscribers", since that's where it is right now. Also he's well known for his Five Nights at Freddy's letsplays as much as his Drunk Minecraft videos.
On another note, would it be worth it to include a picture of the person or group of people beside their name in the future?

Article Needs to be deleted
This article should be deleted, do to the nature of its listing policy. The policies (from nearly a DECADE ago, before YT became big enough for many big corporations to realise it power in advertising, communication, and creating original content) are flawed. Not counting subs? Really? So, Smarter Every Day has >4Million subscribers, more than 31 states of the Union, yet he isn't on the list. HAVING SUBS IN NOTABLE. That's why YT give out multi-colored play buttons as awards. PDK productions (makers of Nerf Wars) isn't on the list, yet he has 1 Million + subs. McJuggerNuggets has >400K subs, is capable of bringing in more than a million views on select videos in a few days, yet was added yesterday. Violette 1st has >100K subs, is capable of grabbing up to 200K views on some videos, and is unlisted. The criteria is confusing and having to have 3rd party references serves what purpose? We can all go to YT and see how many subs are displayed, unless the creator has turned off public display. It's time the criteria was revisited and revised. Also, why are they alphabetized by FIRST NAME???? Should be by last name, not first. tldr; Having subs should get you on the list. This list needs to be greatly expanded, or the project should be deemed beyond the scope of Wikipedia, and deleted. L3X1 (talk) 14:45, 31 December 2016 (UTC)
- Please see WP:N, which is what people on Wikipedia mean by "notable". It's defined as, more or less, something which has received significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject. Subscribers make it more likely someone will receive that coverage, but don't confer notability automatically. After all, if there's no significant coverage elsewhere, there's nothing to base an article on (the whole purpose of notability is to determine what should have an article) since we base content on secondary sources (what other people say is significant about a subject, not what Wikipedia editors say is significant). If you want to make a specific change, propose it (but not in a laundry list of gripes). — Rhododendrites talk \\ 15:11, 8 January 2017 (UTC)

In my opinion the article does not need to be deleted, but needs to be restructured -- possibly into a "list of lists" article. If it is restructured in this way it could be included in the oh-so-lovely List of lists of lists for easy access. Arided (talk) 02:42, 10 January 2017 (UTC)

Propose simplifying inclusion criterion
- The following discussion is an archived record of a request for comment. Please do not modify it. No further edits should be made to this discussion. A summary of the conclusions reached follows.
I see from the edit notice that the current standard for inclusion on this list is coverage in reliable sources, per a discussion here in 2011. I think it may be time to review that decision and consider a simpler approach. Therefore I propose the following:
- All entries must have their own Wikipedia article. Entries with no article, or where the article has been deleted, will be removed. It will no longer be necessary to add sources when adding a new entry, a link to the Wikipedia article is sufficient."
Why is this better? It aligns this page with the WP:GNG and eliminates the need for debate here on the validity of an entry. If it can't support its own article, it will end up deleted, the link turns red, and it can be removed without controversy. If a new article is created with better sourcing that will stand up to scrutiny, it can be added back. All these discussion templates and so forth in use here, like this was a noticeboard, can just be swept away as they won't be needed anymore. The edit notice and the notice at the top of this page can be reduced to one simple sentence that is not open to interpretation. In short, it puts the onus on those wanting to add new entries to insure that the subject is sufficiently notable according to our long-accepted guidelines for inclusion before they are added here, thus eliminating the need for debate on this talk page, pushing it over to WP:AFD which is exactly where discussions of notability are supposed to take place. Beeblebrox (talk) 20:43, 26 January 2017 (UTC)
- Disagree I understand your motivation but per WP:LISTBIO and WP:LISTPEOPLE inclusion in a stand-alone list does not require articles about the people listed there, just them meeting the notability criteria. In fact, WP:LISTPEOPLE explicitly mentions that such lists may include people who otherwise might not warrant their own article (such as WP:1E). Your proposal would essentially mean that a core policy and guideline should not be applied to this article. Plus, having an article is a problematic criterion, since it 1) requires that someone creates it and 2) depends on editors watching this page also checking those articles. Considering the huge NPP backlog, the proposal might lead to more non-notable entries being included. Also, overturning a previous RfC consensus should require a new RfC imho. Regards SoWhy 08:00, 27 January 2017 (UTC)
- Actually, LISTPEOPLE explicitly allows for this: "In other cases, editors choose even more stringent requirements, such as already having an article written (not just qualifying for one), or being notable specifically for reasons related to membership in this group. This is commonly used to control the size of lists that could otherwise run to hundreds or thousands of people, such as the List of American film actresses." and I don't see where LISTBIO forbids it. I don't understand your point about having to check any other articles in order to maintain this one, other than clicking the blue in and making sure it goes to an actual article on the listed person. It is literally as simple as that, which is the whole point of this proposal. I was hoping to get a bit more input though, so I'll go ahead and turn this into an RFC in order to establish a firmer consensus on the issue. Beeblebrox (talk) 20:31, 9 February 2017 (UTC)
- Actually, it is not as simple because then you have to check the sources in each of the linked articles because having an article does not imply the subject to be notable. There are plenty of articles about non-notable subjects that still exist and your approach would just mean that more such articles will be created, each of them requiring maintenance; maintenance, that would not be required if the subject was only included in this list. The example mentioned on WP:LISTPEOPLE is just for extreme cases where a list cannot be maintained. This is not the case here. As I noted before, the previous consensus was established explicitly with WP:LISTPEOPLE in mind and you have not demonstrated any problems that indicate that this approach is now incorrect. In fact, arguing that discussion about notability should happen at WP:AFD merely changes venue without adding any benefits since it just means more articles to patrol, check, nominate for deletion etc. Last but not least your proposal would remove information about notable subjects from this page without making it available somewhere else, thus violating WP:PRESERVE. Regards SoWhy 11:20, 10 February 2017 (UTC)
- Maybe you would feel that you had to do all that extra work instead fo just seeing if the article really exists, but nobody would actually be compelled to. The rest of your argument I just don't buy at all. AFD is in fact where discussion of notability belong, we shouldn't have a single article talk age that is forced to function like a noticeboard because people keep trying to post non-notable entries to a list, that's where extra work is being foisted on maintainers of this list and this proposal would change that. - Support. I've suggested this before (minus the RFC) and I think it's the perfect way to cut down the article's absurd length. Zero Serenity (talk - contributions) 17:23, 10 February 2017 (UTC)
- Strongly Support the proposal. The whole article is ripe of personal work and personal preferences sneaking in under false pretenses. Time to re-assert the eminence of the notability criterion. -The Gnome (talk) 09:50, 11 February 2017 (UTC)
- Strongly Support per The Gnome. Stole the words right out of my mouth. Or fingers, rather. Blurp92 (talk) 16:33, 23 February 2017 (UTC)
- Support: I don't know how this list has gone for so long without restricting entries to people with articles. -- Irn (talk) 17:19, 23 February 2017 (UTC)
- Strongly Support the proposal exactly for the reasons provided above. Mikus (talk) 21:49, 24 February 2017 (UTC)
- Looks like we have a consensus here. I think we can proceed with this. It looks like there are only five redlinks on the entire list, so not that bog of a deal. Since we are no longer requiring sources, I suppose we could get rid of that column, but that would be a bigger job and we didn't really discuss that. Might as well leave it but maybe tweak the edit notice? Beeblebrox (talk) 21:50, 28 February 2017 (UTC)

I am requesting to add in a category for Tana Mogeau. I am working on a class social media project and my team mates and I have chosen to create a wiki for Tana. I am requesting to gain edit rights to add in this category, so that I can also add in a link to a page that my team and I will be creating. Thaosn (talk) 21:23, 24 February 2017 (UTC)

Hi, so I am requesting to add 'Tana Mongeau" into the list of "Channels", so I would like to have a place for her in between 'Tanya Burr' and 'Taryn Southern'.Thaosn (talk) 15:22, 28 February 2017 (UTC)
- Not done Per the consensus arrived at above, only persons who already have a Wikipedia article about them should be listed here. Beeblebrox (talk) 21:06, 20 March 2017 (UTC)
