I started this article. It is intended to avoid duplication of the lists in koinon and symmachia (alliance). A lot of work in the series remains yet.Botteville (talk) 08:08, 28 June 2023 (UTC)Reply

Aeinautai

edit

I removed this item:

  • Koinon of the Aeinautae, recorded on an inscription which was found in Eretria, island Euboea, dated to the 5th century BC

There is no evidence that this koinon is an alliance. Our article Aeinautae gives a good account of it, and most of the 19th and 20th century encyclopedists mention it, but always identify it as a political party or faction. This article is the only one that calls it an alliance. The scattered few mentions of the factions are centuries apart, and only Miletus, Chalkis and Eretria have it at all. Sure, parties are often "alliances" but the alliances of this article are of poleis not of factions, and they don't sneak out to sea to conceal secret decisions from their own poleis. This is skullduggery not politics. Koinon at Eretria means something else and without it is no interpoleis treaty.Botteville (talk) 03:20, 2 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
