Idem for Johan Grøttumsbråten, Thorleif Haug, Heikki Hasu, Oddbjørn Hagen, Olaf Hoffsbakken, Thoralf Strømstad, Alois Kälin, and Sverre Brodahl with cross-country skiing and nordic combined. Idem for Jorien ter Mors and Eric Flaim, speed skating and short track speed skating. Idem for Karch Kiraly with volleyball and beach volleyball. Idem for Ester Ledecká with alpine skiing and snowboarding. Idem for Aileen Riggin, Katherine Rawls, Helen Wainwright, Georg Hoffmann, Frank Kehoe, and Hjördis Töpel with diving and swimming. Idem for Jennison Heaton and John Heaton with bobsleigh and skeleton.
But different disciplines (track cycling, road cycling) but same sport (cycling), Bradley Wiggins, Leontien van Moorsel, Robert Charpentier, Guy Lapébie, Jean Goujon, Marianne Vos, Leonard Meredith, Kathy Watt, Olga Slyusareva, Henry Kaltenbrunn, Jacuqes Dupont, Bernd Dittert, Chris Boardman, Henri Hoevenaers, Frank Southall, Judith Arndt, Fernand Saivé, Jean Van Den Bosch, Michel Vermeulin, Rebecca Twigg, and Rohan Dennis are missed.
Do we remove from the table those of the same sport? Or do we add cycling?

- Kasper2006, Marbe166? You are the first editers of this article. GabrieL (talk) 08:57, 4 August 2021 (UTC)
- It's a bit difficult to get what you mean, but of the ones you mention, to me, only speed skating/short track speed skating and volleyball/beach volleyball are two different disciplines of the same sport. The other ones are different sports. With track cycling, you mean velodrome cycling? I would probably add them. --Marbe166 (talk) 23:32, 5 August 2021 (UTC)
Hello Marbe166,
Yes, track cycling=velodrome cycling. IOC gathers events by sports. Some sports have several disciplines to classify the events. I have the impression that, in the texts in French, this sport / discipline distinction is fairly well respected. But in the texts in English, "disciplines" are often called "sports".

This classification has already changed several times in the past. By example, only a few months ago, two disciplines were planned for karate: kata and kumite, but they are kata and kumite events in Tokyo but finally in the same discipline. Others recent examples in the past:
- ice hockey was a discipline of skating
- they were 3 disciplines in equestrian: dressage, eventing and jumping and even a 4th which is no longer olympic (vaulting) but the 3 first in the same discipline now
- they were 2 disciplines in wrestling: greco-roman wrestling and frestyle wrestling
- baseball/softball now in same sport and same discipline were classified until 2008 in two differents sports
Other older examples (1896 and sequent):
- when and road and track cycling, before making two disciplines, it was grouped together in the same discipline
- weightlifting and wrestling events were in athletics !!
These changes can be seen in the official reports drawn up at each Games since 1896.

@GabrieL: I agree with you. We can remove from the table those of the same sport. --Kasper2006 (talk) 15:37, 7 August 2021 (UTC)
- And you @Marbe166:? Do you want remove from the table when the same sport? Or do you add differents disciplines in the same sport when not in the table? GabrieL (talk) 10:05, 9 August 2021 (UTC)
- No, I don't think that any entries should be removed. I vote for adding the cyclists. --Marbe166 (talk) 18:48, 9 August 2021 (UTC)
