The article, thanks to Dreadstar, has been re-protected. I do not understand why some users insist in give to Cyrus awards she never won. You have to understand that awards, such as the Oscar, the BAFTA, the ASCAP, the EMMY and many others don't belong to Cyrus, belong to the TV series'/film's producers. This article is completely unsourced, and give awards she never won is as disruptive as this. If this issue continue after the page protection, disruptive editors may be blocked from editing. NEW MILEY CYRUS NOMINATION INFO!

Grammy Awards

Year Nominee / work Award Result
2010 "The Climb" Best Song Written for Visual Media Disqualified

Academy Awards

Year Nominee / work Award Result
2010 "The Climb" Best Original Song Disqualified

"The Climb", written by Jessi Alexander, Jon Mabe and Miley Cyrus and featured in Hannah Montana: The Movie, was originally nominated but was withdrawn by Walt Disney Records because it had not been written specifically for a film as the category's eligibility rules require. NARAS released a statement thanking Disney for its honesty and announcing that "The Climb" had been replaced by "All Is Love", the song with the fifth highest initial votes. If this isn't enough then here are some sources! http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1628001/miley-cyrus-climb-pulled-from-grammy-race.jhtml http://oceanup.com/2009/12/02/grammy-award-nominations-2010-list http://blogs.courant.com/eric_danton_sound_check/2009/12/miley-cyrus-song-the-climb-dis.html http://www.contactmusic.com/news/cyrus-withdraws-the-climb-from-grammy-nominations_1125356 http://www.disneydreaming.com/2009/12/11/miley-cyrus-the-climb-grammy-nomination-pulled/ http://blogs.tennessean.com/tunein/2009/12/11/grammy-nomination-withdrawn-for-miley-cyrus-hit-the-climb/

The designation was thrilling, though somewhat expected after a year in which Alexander and Mabe’s “The Climb” — as sung by Miley Cyrus in her Hannah Montana: The Movie — spent 15 weeks atop a Billboard pop chart, won an MTV Movie Award and a Teen Choice Award and spent many months atop iTunes’ list of most downloaded songs. So, the composition’s appearance on the Grammy nominee list for Best Song Written For Motion Picture, Television or Other Visual Media was no shocker.

Its removal from that list, though, proved more surprising.

The Recording Academy pulled “The Climb” as a nominee this week, declaring it ineligible after Walt Disney Records officials verified the song wasn’t written specifically for the film.

No matter, apparently, that the writers altered the song, changed the title and shifted the song from third tense to first tense in order to make “The Climb,” as director Peter Chelsom said, “A character in the movie.” The song figures prominently in the film’s plot as well as its soundtrack.

“I can’t tell you what a high it is for a songwriter to get a Grammy nomination, or how low the low is when you’re told it’s being taken away,” Alexander said. “I’ve lost record deals and dealt with crazy politics in the business, but I’ve never been this devastated about a situation.”

While flowers, congratulations and gift baskets (Mabe got one from his alma mater, Appalachian State University) continue to roll in, The Academy has awarded Alexander and Mabe’s nomination slot to “the next eligible song,” Karen O. and Nick Zinner’s “All Is Love,” from Where The Wild Things Are.

“To us, it’s a really unfortunate deal,” Mabe said. “We feel like we wrote a great song for a movie, and we were asked to tailor it further to the movie, and we did that. There were words changed for every line in the song to make it work in the movie, and the song went through a screening committee and three ballots to get nominated.”

Grammy officials were alerted to the situation by the label itself, and the Academy released a statement about the matter, declaring, “We appreciate the label's honesty and diligence in bringing this matter to our attention and helping us to preserve the integrity of our awards process.”

Still in the running to win that category is Oscar winner “Jai Ho,” from Slumdog Millionaire, despite numerous reports that “Jai Ho” was first penned (and ultimately rejected) for Yuvvraaj, a 2008 Indian film based on the American film Rain Man.

Earlier this year, “Jai Ho” co-writer A.R. Rahman’s office released a statement saying that he in fact authored the song for Slumdog Millionaire, but in interviews Rahman has claimed that Yuvvraaj director Subhash Ghai gave him the song’s title. A November interview on the www.rahmaniac.wordpress.com site found Rahman responding to a question about the Yuvvraaj submission by saying, “Why dig out such stories? I don’t do a song for a film. My compositions are for myself. I gave ‘Jai Ho’ to Slumdog Millionaire and the rest is history.”

The Grammy category’s eligibility requirements dictate, though, that the songs be written “for” a motion picture, rather than be used “in” a motion picture. That delineation could be confusing for voters who avoid the fine print and simply wish to award key songs that appeared in movies.

“As a songwriter, I just write songs and hope and pray they find a home,” Alexander said. “I strongly feel that the Academy needs to reassess the eligibility requirements in this category.”

Such a reassessment would take time, as it would have to be done by a screening committee… the same one that initially gave the OK for inclusion of “The Climb” in this year’s Grammy race.

“Maybe we can be guinea pigs, and this will help in the future,” Alexander said. “There are a lot of gray areas, and I want to make sure this doesn’t happen to another songwriter.”

Like I told you on my talk page, the award has no awards page. The link redirects to the iHeartRadio that doesn't even mention the awards. PerezHilton.com is not a reliable source and neither is TasteOfCountry. You edit on a fan-based purpose, not for encyclopedic benefit. You have been blocked and warned for your disruptive editing and still show no signs of bettering yourself as an editor. Per WP:INDISCRIMINATE, Wikipedia is not an endless supply of lists and not a list of every nomination she has ever been nominated for. If the award has no page then it is by Wikipedia standards as not notable and will be removed. If you want to make a well sourced separate article for the awards, go for it and THEN they can be added. But not before then. LADY LOTUSTALK 14:06, 5 May 2014 (UTC)

Capricho Awards

@Lady Lotus: I found that Miley has several nominations as herself and Hannah Montana too at here and here. Notable awards with also a wikipedia page. Can they be added? - Shane Cyrus (talk) 04:42, 9 May 2014 (UTC)

Yes, as long as the awards has a separate awards page and reliable sources, then it can be added :) LADY LOTUSTALK 11:07, 19 May 2014 (UTC)

Problem with MTV Italian Awards

  • Let's see ... Miley has been nominated in 3 categories at the MTV Music Awards in Italy, so I added the awards article with your official reference and all right, but not for a user to delete, I am placing and deletes again ... this makes no sense ... if you are a real prize (the new TRL Italy basically)! I do not understand, so I would like some user help me finally put it without having any problem, because I do not have a lock because of nonsense like this ... hope someone with common sense to add the following and just this discussion. Thank you.--SergiSmiler (talk) 13:47, 19 May 2014 (UTC)

Like I have told you maaaany times before, if the award does not have it's own separate page, then it is removed per WP:INDISCRIMINATE. If the language barrier is causing too much of a problem where you outright try to edit war by not understanding what it being said, then maybe you need to reconsider editing the English wikipedia. LADY LOTUSTALK 14:29, 19 May 2014 (UTC)
Look, two things: first, I may not know much English, but I know very well what you're saying and the translators are for something, or is that what you can save. Second, the fact that it has no page on Wikipedia is no clear reason for not serving me any excuse to go to give, because it creates and the problem is over, the fact is that you do not allow things done as should, the prize is real, but you do not want to accept, or at least that is what you give me to understand ... well, you have no reason, and I'm still waiting for the intervention of another user, also the other times happened this solved the problem, so do not be so stubborn. Thank you.--SergiSmiler (talk) 14:51, 19 May 2014 (UTC)
One thing I just found out and I knew it was true: it turns out the the MTV Italian Music Awards are TRL Awards ever, only that MTV decided to change the name so that it could recognize the channel, and that I think could be related editing the article or do a TRL moved.--SergiSmiler (talk) 15:25, 19 May 2014 (UTC)

@SergiSmiler: If you can source this with a reference then the page can be movd, and I will add the awards back. Shane Cyrus (talk) 06:36, 20 May 2014 (UTC)

Here have the reference (be in italian). Now can set the new edition in the article, thanks.:http://musica.nanopress.it/news/mtv-awards-2014-il-21-giugno-al-parco-delle-cascine-di-firenze/P147947/ --SergiSmiler (talk) 14:56, 20 May 2014 (UTC)
