Location of awards information
editNot sure if awards from 2009 would be placed on this article or on The Press article?? http://www.stuff.co.nz/the-press/news/2426735/Press-wins-Qantas-awards J9fenwick what do you think? MurielMary (talk) 07:49, 29 February 2020 (UTC)
- Also, wondering if awards for "best newspaper" should be on the page of the newspaper e.g. Sunday Star-Times instead of this page? MurielMary (talk) 09:36, 29 February 2020 (UTC)
- I have similar queries. What is the scope of this page? As it is, this is mostly about awards that have not been won for the website but by newspapers, or journalists employed by Stuff. I suggest that we define the scope as "awards won by Stuff Limited, its newspapers, staff, and website", which then covers the whole lot. In my view, there is no harm to create some degree of duplication, e.g. the Sunday Star-Times award can be mentioned both here on on that newspaper's page. On another note, according to this source and confirmed here, The Press won newspaper of the year in 2012 – that's not included on this page yet. Schwede66 23:37, 29 February 2020 (UTC)
- Yes, a bit trickier than first thought! There are awards for newspapers which seem to be clearly different from awards for stuff.co.nz, and I think should be removed from here if the scope is "awards for the website". Or, if the scope is "awards won by Stuff Limited etc etc" as you suggest, which is a really long title (but I can't see how to shorten it) then everything can be here together and also repeated on the articles of the individual papers. - This might be a useful model: List of Pixar awards and nominations (feature films) - page separated into subsections for each newspaper, a subsection for stuff.co.nz and a subsection for individual reporters? Then each subsection could also be copied and pasted into the page for each newspaper. MurielMary (talk) 23:55, 29 February 2020 (UTC)

- And another point, the list includes nominations as well as awards so this should be included in the title e.g. "List of nominations and awards received by ...." MurielMary (talk) 00:11, 1 March 2020 (UTC)
- @MurielMary: ”List of Stuff awards and nominations“ – that would work, wouldn’t it? RSchwede66 03:46, 1 March 2020 (UTC)
- @Schwede66: Having read through the sources (the Voyager award lists) and seeing how the entities are referred to by the judges I think this page needs to be limited to Stuff.co.nz and its journalists, and awards for the individual newspapers need to be re-located to the pages of the newspapers. The newspaper awards are not related to Stuff.co.nz. MurielMary (talk) 03:47, 1 March 2020 (UTC)
- Why do the journalists belong to the website and not the company or its newspapers? Schwede66 03:50, 1 March 2020 (UTC)
- As I understand things, journalists are employed to write at a national level (e.g. to write for Stuff Circuit on stuff.co.nz) or to write for the section of stuff.co.nz pertaining to the newspaper they are attached to (e.g. to write for The Press print version and The Press online, which is a section of stuff.co.nz). I think we should follow how they're referred to in the awards announcements e.g. 2014 Best Video: Mike Scott – Waikato Times/stuff.co.nz would be listed on this page and the WT page, while other journalists are awarded for work on a specific newspaper only and stuff.co.nz isn't mentioned therefore should be listed on their newspaper page and not here. - Current thinking: identify the publication that the award giving body states the award is for in each case; if it's Stuff.co.nz only, leave it here. If it's another Stuff Ltd publication, move it to that publication's page. If it's joint, leave it here and add it to the other page as well. Also need to either separate this list into two (for the website/for journalists of the website) or acknowledge in the title that the list is for both the website itself and the journalists who work on it. See the two tables I've made for The Press page as an example. Then, the column "publication" on this table would be removed as redundant because all the awards would be for stuff.co.nz.
