Semi-protection request

edit

I just found out that there is/are someone/somebody editing non-sense information all over and over again (I think this always happened four times already) that Sarah Geronimo's Popstar: A Dream Come True album has already now sold 296,000 copies rather that its original information which was said only 200,000 copies (according to her official Facebook page.

However, if there's really a reliable source with regards to her album now sold 296,000 copies, this request may be discard.

Hoping for your action and consideration. Thank you.

Biased article

edit

Please help contribrute to this page but DO NOT VANDALIZE. A lot of Regine Velasquez, Sarah Geronimo and Jaya fans have inserted album sales and certifications that are unsourced. I tried to find reliable references for them, but here's what I got so far:

  • R2K has 480,000 sold units but I only ended up finding the "12x Platinum" certification.
  • Popstar: A Dream Come True was only certified "7x Platinum" in every link I find.
  • Jaya's sales of 360,000 units still has no reliable source.

Let us be transparent with the information we give. DO NOT VANDALIZE.

Thank you.—User:Kristelzorina 12:38, 18 June 2017 (PST)

Thalía's inflated sales

edit

I doubt that Thalía's album sold 1 million copies in Philippines. This is something that started when her fans created her article here ]]in Wikipedia, and inflated her sales a lot. There's a report by Billboard magazine that says her album Nandito Ako sold 40,000 there in 10 months of release. How this album sold more 960,000 after that?! Maybe something more reliable could be found about her sales... If Thalía had sold that amount of copies there she would leave Mexico and USA and would live in Philippines! All her albums till 2008 sold 1,3 million copies together in USA, according to Nielsen Soundscan...--88marcus (talk) 21:38, 18 June 2017 (UTC)Reply

Agree. Probably was a confusion from the media. Chrishonduras (Diskussion) 23:45, 18 June 2017 (UTC)Reply

Where did you get the information about her selling only 1.3 million copies in US till 2008? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lazyriver1 (talkcontribs) 14:18, 8 September 2017 (UTC)Reply

Just because you saw some alleged report in Billboard, it does not give you the right to mess up with this record. When Thalia's Nandito Ako was released in 1997, there was no Billboard Philippines. All the sources are added on this page from various credible outlets. Please stop vandalizing this page. Thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lazyriver1 (talkcontribs) 14:52, 8 September 2017 (UTC)Reply
@Lazyriver1: Well, Thalia has sold 1,374,000 albums according to Nielsen SoundScan (till 2008) link

And of course she didn't sold that amount of records in Philippines, this history begun here in Wikipedia, and the lazy press begun to report in every site, that actually she did. 50 x platinum?? please. This is not reliable.--88marcus (talk) 16:51, 8 September 2017 (UTC)Reply

@88marcus: In the link that you provided, it says: " IN THE US, she sold 1.3 by 2008." And we are not even discussing about her sales outside PH. If you have any complains, you can call Octo Arts EMI.
Sales that came from record companies are not reliable sources, they are primary sources and are not acording to Wikipedia rules. The confusion of 1 million came after the writer of the song said that Nandito ako, sold 1 million copies. He wasn't talking about the Thalía's CD, only about the song he wrote and sing. But then Thalía's fans begun to say here in Wiki that she sold 1 million there. Since then even the media begun to write the same thing. Thal'ia has only around 5 million copies with certified sales, with all her album, don't you think if she had sold that amount of copies in Phillipines she wouldn't live there?! Even in Mexico, her record was 500,000 with Primera Fila, and second Love, with 350,000. People said in the media, that Michael Jackson sold more thant 100 million copies only with Thriller, that doesn't mean that it's true. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a site to the fans and record companies use high sales to commercial purposes. We have to be the more accurate possible. Also, there's no even mention about a record certification in PARI website.--88marcus (talk) 15:24, 18 September 2017 (UTC)Reply
@88marcus: Clearly, you are making up stories from hearsay without any proof... I have all the links from my source STOP VANDALIZING this page. Primera Fila was released when music streaming was a boom. Nandito Ako was released when the internet was not even starting. And Thalia has got her reasons why not living in PH is conducive to her. You need to ask her Mom, who is the manager. Stop plucking stories that does not make any sense. This serves as your last warning! (talk) 15:24, 18 September 2017 (UTC)Reply
I found a source from 1997 indicating 3x Platinum at that time = 120,000 copies and is enough to be reincorporated again. --Apoxyomenus (talk) 16:43, 9 July 2020 (UTC)Reply
