Did You Know
A fact from this article appeared on Wikipedia's Main Page in the "Did you know?" column on April 24, 2007.
The text of the entry was: Did you know ...that 25 of the 368 Cuban bird species are endemic?
Current status: Former featured list

Huh?

edit

The source from Avibase or whatever says that only 25 are endemic... Please explain. —ÅñôñÿMôús Dîššíd3nt 07:20, 23 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

This revision converts the article to the taxonomy of the American Ornithological Society's Check-list of North and Middle American Birds for consistency with other western hemisphere lists for entities north of South America. In addition it brings the list itself up to date. The specific changes, which follow AOS unless noted otherwise, are:

  • Revise the sequence of families.
  • Revise the Orders of families Apodidae (swifts) and Trochilidae (hummingbirds).
  • Revise three genera and the sequence of species in family Columbidae (pigeons and doves).
  • Revise the sequence of species in family Trochilidae (hummingbirds).
  • Revise the sequence of species in family Rallidae (rails, gallinules, and coots)
  • Revise the sequence of species in family Charadriidae (plovers and lapwings).
  • Revise the sequence of species in family Scolopacidae (sandpipers and allies).
  • Revise the sequence of species in family Procellariidae (shearwaters and petrels).
  • Revise the sequence of species in family Phalacrocoracidae (cormorants and shags).
  • Revise the sequence of species in family Accipitridae (hawks, eagles, and kites).
  • Revise the sequence of species in family Picidae (woodpeckers).
  • Revise the sequence of species in family Psittacidae (New World and African parrots).
  • Revise the sequence of species in family Tyrannidae (tyrant flycatchers).
  • Revise the sequence of species in family Hirundinidae (swallows).
  • Revise the sequence of species in family Passerellidae (New World sparrows).
  • Revise the sequence of species in family Thraupidae (tanagers and allies).
  • Revise the text, counts, and references to reflect the above.
