editSmells like a list. List of bridges in the United Kingdom? --Jiang
northern ireland bridges
editAre there no bridges in Northern Ireland? seglea 01:23, 23 Dec 2003 (UTC)
bridge with longest span
editThe Humber bridge has the longest span in the UK, but it is not the longest bridge. That honour goes to the Second Severn Crossing. Should this be mentioned in the article? Thryduulf 11:46, 27 Jan 2005 (UTC)
Victoria Bridge in the London sub-list
editThis has a link to Victoria Bridge, which until an hour or so ago described a rail bridge across the Saint Lawrence River in Montreal, Canada. I have now made Victoria Bridge into a dab page, and the canadian bridge is at Victoria Bridge, Montreal.
Trying to remove references to the now disambiguation page, I came across this one. Redirecting it back to Victoria Bridge, Montreal is obviously just compounding somebody else's previous error. On the other hand, I cannot bring a Victoria Bridge in London to mind. I know there is a very recent Royal Victoria Dock Bridge, and also a Victoria Bridge, Datchet, but neither of these really fit. So perforce I'm leaving this link pointing at the redirection page, in the hope somebody else can help. -- Chris j wood 14:57, 9 Dec 2004 (UTC)
- I think I just answered my own question. The article on Grosvenor Bridge says that it is sometimes known as Victoria Railway Bridge, although I've never heard it so called. Changed accordingly. -- Chris j wood 15:08, 9 Dec 2004 (UTC)
Railway bridges and viaducts
editJust to note, i have created a list on railway viaducts and bridges in the UK. I think if any appear in here, they should be moved to the article i.e. List of railway bridges and viaducts in the United Kingdom. However, they are still bridges. Is there any way to avoid duplication? Simply south 16:40, 23 October 2006 (UTC)
Scammonden bridge claim
editThis claim that the "Scammonden bridge, the longest single span non-suspension bridge in the world when built". seems very dubious. M62 was built in the 70s. There a number of single span non suspension bridges that are obviously longer an older: Sydney Harbour Bridge, Hell Gate Bridge. It might need to be further qualified, for example it might be the longest concrete arch bridge. Georgipetrov 19:37, 21 December 2006 (UTC)
? Canal Bridges/Aqueducts
editI see that this list excludes railway bridges but what about canal bridges/aqueducts eg Avoncliff Aqueduct & Dundas Aqueduct which carry a canal over a river?— Rod talk 09:43, 9 November 2008 (UTC)
- Those two canal bridges were without WikiProject Bridges on the Talk page, but I fixed that, a decade after the comment by Rodw.--Dthomsen8 (talk) 04:11, 6 July 2019 (UTC)
Under northern Ireland there is Queen Elizabeth II Bridge||County Down||, but this entry redirects to a bridge complex in England. What should it be?--Dthomsen8 (talk) 03:59, 6 July 2019 (UTC)
