edit- at risk of making it a bit wider - year of build would be nice. GraemeLeggett 14:11, 18 November 2005 (UTC)
- Pffft, you could just go to their links, or if they don't have links, try looking it up on google man. -- Anonymous Contributor, 08:13, 22 December 2005 (UTC)
- Be bold and add year of build. --Vidarlo 16:38, 31 December 2005 (UTC)
Metric measurment.
edit- I've added metric measurments to the table. Converted using a script, and GNU Units
-- Vidarlo 16:36, 31 December 2005 (UTC)
- But you didn't use a sensible unit like tonnes GraemeLeggett 12:28, 1 January 2006 (UTC)
- No, I did not. I prefered KG, since it would be rather impractical with 0.265 tonnes for example. I simply think kg fits better here, won't need a decimal point. To translate lbs into tonnes, without decimals would be corruption of the data. So, thus kg. It simply avoids a decimal place, that'd be needed otherwise. --Vidarlo 16:16, 1 January 2006 (UTC)
- @GraemeLeggett Kilogram is the official SI unit, while tonne can be confused with short tons and long tons. the values in tonne like they are now make little sense, why have three decimal places when Kilogram can be used. 89.8.211.108 (talk) 18:49, 18 June 2022 (UTC)
- And you didn't supply a metric conversion for the range either. GraemeLeggett 12:28, 1 January 2006 (UTC)
Feel free to do so.--Vidarlo 16:16, 1 January 2006 (UTC)- Actually I did so, instead of only talking about it...--Vidarlo 16:42, 1 January 2006 (UTC)
- however, it's confusing. the ranges listed in KM is a different order than the ranges listed in yards Egreena42 (talk) 18:28, 9 September 2024 (UTC)
Aid to comparison
editAny value in adding the year of design/first vessels completion as a column to help compare? GraemeLeggett 10:02, 13 April 2006 (UTC)
- Maybe, but it has not developed lineary, it has peaked at each world war, so I'd say it'd do little. Just my 0.02$. --vidarlo 19:09, 13 April 2006 (UTC)
Table sortability
editHmm, with the way the headings and numbers are currently, adding Help:Sorting could be tricky. But it would add value to the article, seeing as it's not like we are adding new rows all the time ;) — MrDolomite • Talk 17:03, 9 February 2007 (UTC)
Ships that can't fire all main guns broadside
editThe Omaha class cruisers mounted 12 x 6" 53 cal guns, with four in turrets that could be trained to either side and eight in casemates with limited traverse. Since this is a list of broadsides, and the Omaha class could only fire eight guns to either side, I moved them down the list. I'd like to be able to note this briefly on the page, but everything I can think of is longwinded. Anyone have any ideas? TomTheHand 18:58, 9 February 2007 (UTC)
The Atlanta class cruisers have the same issue, so I'm adjusting them accordingly as well. TomTheHand 19:02, 9 February 2007 (UTC)
