Nepotisms

edit

The list offered in the article is, unfortunately, a list of nepotisms, not of cardinal-nephews. The very broad definition adopted by the creators of the article obscures rather than enlightens the growth of the custom. See, for example, James Corkery; Thomas Worcester (12 August 2010). The Papacy Since 1500: From Italian Prince to Universal Pastor. Cambridge: Cambridge University Press. pp. 75–78. ISBN 978-0-521-50987-9. --Vicedomino (talk) 23:49, 4 June 2016 (UTC)Reply

  • I confirm that this is simply a list of cardinals who were nephews/relatives of a Pope, while under the name of "Cardinal Nephews" should be listed only the cardinal-nephews who actually took the office with such-name, i.e. acted as interior and foreing segretaries/ministers of the Papal States (ref: Menniti Ippolito, Antonio (1998). "Note sulla Segreteria di Stato". La corte di Roma tra Cinque e Seicento. Roma: Bulzoni Editore. pp. 176–8. ISBN 978-8883192579.) A ntv (talk) 10:41, 17 August 2016 (UTC)Reply
