Castles or castles+palaces?

edit

Title and contents of this list are contradicting. Castles are medieval, fortified structures, while here have been listed palaces as well - non-fortified, posh residences (this includes also manor houses). If nobody objects, I will start sorting them out - leaving here only castles and creating separate list for palaces. Daarznieks (talk) 13:25, 31 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

You are welcome to split the list into three separate lists: castles, palaces and manors. It was I who originally expanded the list to its current length. It was not I who stubbed the articles, but all of the buildings and structures exist or existed and their titles are based on the following reference:
Zarāns, Alberts (2006). Latvijas pilis un muižas. Castles and manors of Latvia (in Latvian and English). Riga. ISBN 9984-785-05-X. OCLC 72358861.{{cite book}}: CS1 maint: location missing publisher (link)
By the way, the castle article has a section on revival castles and the castle as a country house that you might consider whilst sorting the articles. Talk/♥фĩłдωəß♥\Work 17:15, 31 August 2009 (UTC)Reply
OK, will go with it. In fact there are more than 1000 manor houses in Latvia, most of them really interesting (Riga City alone has 43 of them). Yes, we have lots of those revival castles in Neo-Romanic and Neo-Gothic styles but for most part they don't resemble real castles - so I will rather go with conservative use of term "castles" (in a case of Latvia - fortified buildings from 12th to 16th century - we had more than 130 of these, only some 12 - 15 still are in use).Daarznieks (talk) 18:22, 31 August 2009 (UTC)Reply
Don't worry about red links - will correct the names of castle articles in coming days. Daarznieks (talk) 13:38, 1 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
