Why has Dane Cook been removed? I'm assuming it was a snide attack from someone who doesn't like him. Despite whether one likes him or not, I think he still qualifies as a comedian.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.194.31.179 (talk) 14:40, 21 January 2007 (UTC)
Werner
editI removed the name "Werner" from the list of English comedians, because it only linked to a disambig page for the dozens of people with the first or last name of Werner (none of them English-language comedians). There are two German comedians, Hans Werner Olm and Werner Finck, and they're both on the List of German comedians. If you put Werner on the list or know an English-language comedian named Werner, go ahead and put the full name on this list. Fredwerner 22:58, 5 June 2007 (UTC)
Improving Quantity and Quality
editI proposed including all comedians listed on page list of entertainers appearing on Laugh USA into the listing here (but I do not propose a permanent merging of the two articles into one article). The advantages of the content there are two-fold. In addition to 1) listing many comedians otherwise ignored here, it would also 2) lend the credibility of its own sources (much needed for this page!)
The material on that page is not in any way original work (as would be forbidden on Wikipedia), but is taken directly from the XM Radio display, and is easily verifiable to anyone with a receiver or who can stream the content online. IMHO, there is really no need for debate here, but I don't have the time to include all that content here. To date, I have researched the entire list there and have been contributing more than I reasonably can lately).grubbmeister 04:40, 5 August 2007 (UTC)

editRay Stevens is a comedian, he does most of his comedy in music but he is one. Why does it keep getting deleted? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 165.29.170.120 (talk) 20:01, 20 May 2008 (UTC)
Jim Belushi is on the list. Why not his brother John? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.29.56.235 (talk) 18:34, 9 February 2009 (UTC)
Bill Cosby should be added to this list of cemmedians. This is a glaring omissiion. Art SACkman69.250.30.228 (talk) 04:41, 30 May 2009 (UTC)
Well, why didn't you add it? Doesn't matter it's been done. P.S. It helps to spell check...66.74.194.72 (talk) 00:24, 9 December 2012 (UTC)

Move to List of anglophone comedians
editI've reverted the move to List of anglophone comedians on the grounds that this seems to warrant discussion, as the list as it stands is not exclusive to anglophones. Accordingly, we needed to either remove people from the current list and make the move, in which case presumably we'd need to ensure that they are listed elsewhere, or we need to make this list move inclusive than it currently is. Alternatively, a list of anglophone comedians might not be the best way forward, so we might consider spinning people out into different sublists. I'm not sure which way we should go, and I don't have a strong preference. - Bilby (talk) 02:16, 17 June 2016 (UTC)
Scope
editIs this a list of actors who are funny? Actors who don't specialize in tragedy? Or is it supposed to be a list of people who are known for working as comedians, such as in stand-up comedy? The latter seems more appropriate, more useful as a list, and much less inclusive. Binksternet (talk) 04:13, 22 December 2016 (UTC)
This list makes me sad
editWhen actors like Eric Bana or Mark Wahlberg had a lead role in a comedy sometimes that doesn't mean that they are comedians, they just know their job, it's part of the range of acting skills. And who in the world would think Eric Bana were a comedian in the first place. Humphrey Bogart could be funny too. On the other hand Colbert or Seinfeld do really nothing else. These people are hard to find in a list with so many accidental 'comedians' Apart from that a sortable table would be helpful since diff languages are spoken and there are generations of comedians, that could simply be sorted by birth date. The list as it is is just a pile of names. MenkinAlRire 15:20, 1 January 2023 (UTC)
