Titles
edit@EnigmaMcmxc: What's your thought process behind not including titles in names? Quite a few of the commanders were knights, for example. Pickersgill-Cunliffe (talk) 21:04, 2 January 2023 (UTC)
- I am never quite sure when to include them, to be honest (do we go by when they were awarded, or does it get applied retroactively i.e. someone gets knighted in 1901 but was commander in 1900 etc. would they still be listed as sir or not?). As long as they do not mess up sorting my last name (which I don't think they would), it shouldn't be a problem.EnigmaMcmxc (talk) 21:16, 2 January 2023 (UTC)
- I think it might be appropriate to give them a title if they had it before/during that particular tenure. If an officer held the post twice but was knighted after the first period, then they would only be listed with the title for the second one? Pickersgill-Cunliffe (talk) 21:25, 2 January 2023 (UTC)
- Sounds fair. Ideally, the Gazette articles will show that for each so they can be checked pretty quickly. I'll start going through them this week.EnigmaMcmxc (talk) 02:01, 3 January 2023 (UTC)
