The Trump Organization
editI don't see how the trump organization is a conglomerate. Outside of real estate ownership by Donald Trump, "Trump" is a brand rather than actually being in different business entities. If you are going to put brands that cross different industries, such as fashion and vodka, then you might as well put other celebrities such as Kayne West or Kylie Jenner. Kylie Jenner has cosmetics, clothing line, an iphone app. There are three different industries that aren't business entities nor things she herself manufactures. Likewise, Trump organization doesn't produce nor make their own goods.
List of conglomerates
editI do not understand the comment "List are largey superceded by categories" at the top of the page. If you would like to explain why you think this page should be deleted, please do. But it makes logical sense to me to have a list of conglomerates attached to the conglomerate page. Poweron 04:12, 29 April 2007 (UTC)
Whoever posted "Hsu" With a taiwanese flag didn't point to an article about a conglomerate. Thus, it is being deleted, as I could not find what you were referring to. Please feel free to re-edit the page and point to the taiwanese conglomerate you were referring to. Poweron 16:20, 12 June 2007 (UTC)
B.Bui is a very successful Vietnamese company that specialises in ramen and is linked to indomie
Wal-Mex
editShould Wal-Mex be on this list? It is owned by Wal-Mart. Everything owned by Wal-Mex would be owned by Wal-Mart. Having Wal-Mex seems redundant and pointless. Jwh335 (talk) 05:38, 22 December 2008 (UTC)
- Eh, I decided to just remove it. If someone adds it back, let me know the reason here. Thanks. Jwh335 (talk) 05:41, 22 December 2008 (UTC)
List style like the billionaires
editMaybe this should be put into the style of the billionaires list. Putting the income and what not. Jwh335 (talk) 05:44, 22 December 2008 (UTC)
- I should be a sortable table with revenue, year foundation, field of industry etc. Otherwise this is list is pretty useless. 86.132.41.25 (talk) 17:02, 27 October 2009 (UTC)
Viacom?
editCriteria for inclusion
editWhat was used to decide which companies make it on this wikipedia list? Is it a Fortune basis? there are no references. I don't this is a viable article as it. Really ought to be deleted at this rate. Lihaas (talk) 16:34, 20 August 2008 (UTC)
Sources
editThe sources are the links of the pages themselves. Only companies with valid wiki pages provding a description of the the company's conglomeration is included in this listing. Companies with no link are excluded.JACKSONIAN3623 (talk) 20:08, 17 September 2008 (UTC)
Some conglomerates aren't
editHow is Dell a conglomerate? or Kodak, HP, Motorola, Sony, Nintendo, etc.. None of those are multi-industry companies. --Aizuku (talk) 12:18, 9 January 2010 (UTC)
- True, although you could maybe argue that Sony has a conglomerate-like diversity of businesses. It seems some editors are a bit vague about the definition of "conglomerate". Letdorf (talk) 13:00, 26 January 2010 (UTC).
- Sony can go both ways. But Nintendo? --Aizuku (talk) 15:44, 27 February 2010 (UTC)
- This is a conglomerate -> Itochu --Aizuku (talk) 15:49, 27 February 2010 (UTC)
- Sony can go both ways. But Nintendo? --Aizuku (talk) 15:44, 27 February 2010 (UTC)

Proposal to split article
editIn order to more effectively edit the article, we ought to split it into continental articles and in some cases into lists of conglomerates by country. We did this successfuly with List of banks. When consensus is reached on spitting this article, I can do the work. Thanks. Fsmatovu (talk) 17:41, 5 May 2011 (UTC)
- Undecided. Before continuing with this, I think this article should be cleaned up first. Currently, most entries here do not have any sources confirming that an entry actually is a conglomerate. If after cleaning up this list there are enough entries left and if the split would result in articles that are long enough to stand on their own I would support that. But right now, I am not convinced that this would be the case. Toshio Yamaguchi (talk) 13:36, 9 May 2011 (UTC)
Group nationality
editI have noticed that Vivendi is classed as a US conglomerate as well as a EU one, and at the same time the page for the company states clearly it is a French company. Please move this to the correct section or give a definition of "nationality".
Please check also the ArcelorMittal Group as it shows a dual flag (Indian and British) which does not seem to represent very well its European origin (Belgium-French-Spanish for the Arcelor part).
What is the average User looking for?
editI think people tend to view conglomerates as a corporation owning other corporations regardless of their industry.
Maybe have a page of dictionary definition conglomerates (A corporation consisting of a number of subsidiary companies or divisions in a variety of unrelated industries, usually as a result of merger or acquisition.) Then have a link to umbrella corporations that own many corporationss within their industry. Sitkaz (talk) 21:22, 23 October 2011 (UTC)
Should Kohler be added to this list?
editThey control a number of subsidiaries beyond washroom amenities from a chocolate company, engines and golf courses;
Jardine Matheson
editJardine Matheson was founded in China. They are incorporated in Bermuda. Their stock is priced in U.S. Dollars and trades on the Singapore exchange. So, why is this company listed under Hong Kong?
Because it is headquartered in Hong Kong.2603:9000:6505:52E1:3DEE:C286:7843:A5BF (talk) 17:57, 25 March 2020 (UTC)

Hi, I am the archivist and historian for SC Johnson. I acknowledge that I have a conflict of interest and am writing to request one edit to this list of conglomerates.
Please remove "Johnson Family Enterprises".
Johnson Family Enterprises does not exist and the linked page was previously removed as per deletion request.(https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Johnson_Family_Enterprises) Thanks! Wax86 (talk) 22:10, 10 May 2018 (UTC)
Dude Perfect
editIs Dude Perfect a conglomerate? 2603:9000:6505:52E1:3DEE:C286:7843:A5BF (talk) 16:21, 25 March 2020 (UTC)
- No. the definition of a conglomerate is :
a multi-industry company – i.e., a combination of multiple business entities operating in entirely different industries under one corporate group, usually involving a parent company and many subsidiaries. Conglomerates are often large and multinational.
A few guys messing about on youtube does not seem to fit this description. Spike 'em (talk) 16:40, 25 March 2020 (UTC)
- Dude Perfect has a full website, is found on NASDAQ, and overall looks like a company. Does that make it a conglomerate? 2603:9000:6505:52E1:3DEE:C286:7843:A5BF (talk) 17:27, 25 March 2020 (UTC)
- EDIT: Two article say that Dude Perfect is a conglomerate: https://www.pedestrian.tv/sport/ping-pong-trick-shot-espn-aussie-bloke/ and https://www.database46.com/youtube/cory-cotton/ 2603:9000:6505:52E1:3DEE:C286:7843:A5BF (talk) 17:37, 25 March 2020 (UTC)
