Name?

Isn't "List of reservoirs and dams" quite unexpecting for someone who'd want to find "List of dams" or "List of dams and reservoirs"? I'd suggest that the lists of dams be moved to a more reasonable title, because I think more people would think of first a dam then a reservoir. themaee^talk 15:45, 9 May 2009 (UTC)

Merger

I proposed merging Lists of reservoirs and dams into this article. Both are overlapping and the individual lists for each country are or can be listed here. Navigation is simple with the 'contents' box on the right of the article. List of Dams and reservoirs by river system

Eventually, it might be nice to have a list for each river system. I was particularly interested in the dams on the Nile river and its tributaries. Perhaps a template for listing all dams and reservoirs would be useful to editors of articles on rivers. Listing by river is of interest because of environmental issues, excessive usage and disputes over water resources.99.41.254.172 (talk) 22:28, 27 January 2012 (UTC)

That is a good idea. There are some lists such as: List of dams in the Columbia River watershed and one for the Missouri Tennessee and Mekong rivers at least. I don't suppose I will get around to it anytime soon but I can see it in the future, particularly for heavily-dammed basins like the Tigris-Euphrates and Indus.
