Spanish Flu

edit

Note sure this counts as a disaster. At least not in the sense that every other inclusion is in. Ravendrop 09:52, 22 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

Interesting, you may have a point. Do you mean because it happened over a long period as opposed to a sudden incident? Gentleman wiki (talk) 07:13, 23 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

It does raise the question of what constitutes a disaster. If Flu counts, then maybe tobacco should be listed. See comments below on Nigerian Airlines Crash. Similarly, if Swissair 111 counts, then maybe the Titanic should be included?Doc.Ian (talk) 16:53, 10 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

Can't see why the flu is listed in this article then. The article is supposed to be about "major disasters (excluding acts of war) which occurred in Canada or involved Canadian citizens, in a definable incident, " Gentleman wiki (talk) 02:12, 31 December 2018 (UTC)Reply

User: Anarchangel: "I would accept a merge, but the distinction between those that actually happened in Canada and those that did not must remain."
User:Mandsford: "I don't see the point in removing what you refer to as "non-Canadian disasters" from the other article ((this one)) when a simple rewording would do just as well"

Ok, so he does not pay attention to what the other guy says. But he's right, it would only take a "simple rewording". Now get to it, since he never will (prove me wrong, Mandsford). Anarchangel (talk) 10:10, 23 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

Nigeria Airlines Crash

edit

Just because it is a Canadian owned aircraft does not make it a Canadian disaster. --Kuzwa (talk) 23:28, 27 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

Should Cascadia earthquake be included?

edit

No one knows how many people actually died, so I'm not sure it makes sense to include, even if it was a major disaster. Alex of Canada (talk) 23:10, 6 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

Quebec Heat Wave of July 2018?

edit

I noticed there were a few natural disasters in among the list. The Toronto Star reports more than 90 deaths attributed to the heat wave in the province of Quebec: https://www.thestar.com/news/canada/2018/07/18/89-deaths-now-linked-to-heat-wave-in-quebec.html

with no less than 53 in Montreal during the period from June 30, 2018 to July 8, 2018 per the Direction régionale de santé publique (DRSP) de Montréal (available in French only): https://santemontreal.qc.ca/fileadmin/fichiers/actualites/2018/07_juillet/BilanCanicule2018VF.pdf — Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.83.112.195 (talk) 03:42, 14 October 2018 (UTC)Reply

Aeronautical disasters in Saskatchewan

edit

This list article explicitly states that it does not include "aeronautical disasters in Saskatchewan." I feel like I'm missing some important context here. Why is Saskatchewan singled out? Is Saskatchewan Canada's Bermuda Triangle? pburka (talk) 23:15, 1 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
