"Women's literature" as an area of study

edit

(I am posting this message on the discussion pages of several likely articles and lists; sorry for the cross-posting):

I'd like to invite anyone interested in women's writing to read and comment on a draft article, " Women's literature in English." It began in response to the recent removal of " Woman Writers" as a category. It's close to being finished, but a few more eyes would be really helpful. Thanks! scribblingwoman 16:01, 19 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Update: I just (finally) submitted the category for review for reinstatement. Fingers crossed. scribblingwoman 15:07, 18 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

The ODNB reference would potentially be much more useful if it were done inline, for each of those who has an article there. Charles Matthews (talk) 08:48, 24 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

Changes to this list/creation of sister list/creation of mirror list

edit

Originally, this list was organized chronologically. But as it grew, it became unwieldy. Also, it was difficult to search for individuals unless you knew their dates, so while it was useful for those interested in the development of the theatre, it was also limited. In addition, there are two sister lists, List of early-modern women novelists (England, Wales, and Great Britain) (new!) and List of early-modern women poets (England, Wales, and Great Britain), both of which are organized alphabetically. So, I reordered this list to be alphabetical as well, and created Chronology of early-modern women playwrights (England, Wales, and Great Britain) for the original, chronological list. I hope that meets with the approval of all those who have been working so hard on these lists! — scribblingwoman 16:10, 13 June 2022 (UTC)Reply

Merger completed

edit

As per the discussion referred to in template at the top of this page, I converted this article, which consisted of an alphabetically-arranged list, into a table, and made Chronology of early-modern British women playwrights, which was not being updated, into a redirect. — scribblingwoman 23:21, 10 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
