Redundant page?
editWith the category system this page is redundant. With the category system it is autometically updated as new ecologists are added and they can be categoised into sub-cats. This page requires manual updating and does not have a suitable country classification system. Alan Liefting 03:50, 13 March 2006 (UTC)
- I think this page has value independent of the category pages, and it seems no one has recommended it for deletion in the 4+ years since the above comment. At present, this page and the category pages (Ecologists and American ecologists, for example) seem to have relatively little overlap. Also, this page seems more historical, while the others seem more concerned with living or at least recent ecologists. I think this page should be kept, at least until all ecologists on this list are categorized appropriately so they do appear on the other list(s). I'm working on that, albeit slowly. --Araucana (talk) 14:10, 8 November 2011 (UTC)
- Per editing guidelines, no, the page isn't redundant to categories. See WP:NOTDUP, where it states, in part, "It is neither improper nor uncommon to simultaneously have a category, a list, and a navigation template which all cover the same topic. These redundant systems of organizing information are considered to be complementary, not inappropriately duplicative."... Northamerica1000(talk) 00:47, 1 March 2012 (UTC)
