editAnd what about Hungarian? For example, Révay Nagy Lexikona? That's an encyclopedia about 21 volumes + the newer ones. I think it should be mentioned. And Pallas Nagy Enciklopédia is a great encyclopedia as well. --Ernobius (talk) 10:59, 9 July 2008 (UTC)
Poland has a long tradition of encyclopaedias: http://pl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polskie_encyklopedie --Revery (talk) 08:30, 4 March 2009 (UTC)
What's an encyclopedia
editThis list could explode, and in some ways, is already bulging at the seams. The Poets' Encyclopedia isn't truly an encyclopedia; it's a very specialized compendium of facts, much like an almanac. Having Encyclopedia in its name doesn't make a work an encyclopedia. Nor does not having encyclopedia in its name disqualify it as being one. I hardly think any one-volume work, no matter how massive, can be an encyclopedia. Dictionaries and almanacs can have their own list articles, and don't belong here. Gray's Anatomy is a very 'encyclopedic' compendium, but it's one volume, and a highly specialized medical textbook. Microsoft's Encarta was clearly an encyclopedia. There shouldn't be too many red-link items here, either - if it doesn't have a wiki article, it's not notable enough to be on the list. Otherwise we risk having the list become a "me, too" thing - fly-by editing, with no effort put into increasing the body of knowledge.
I think the article itself should contain intro text of what items the list covers or includes. We might also make the distinction of whether the item is extant or defunct, and whether printed, digital/online only, or both. Sbalfour (talk) 04:22, 31 December 2016 (UTC)
I agree. TV Tropes? What value is provided by including that in this list? Hughpac (talk) 14:55, 26 February 2019 (UTC)

Writing Style
editI wonder if there is a formal writing style for this page! I noticed -in latest revision and backwards- a writing style that mixes between using 'italics' and 'normal' in corresponding encyclopedias names where:
- Italics is used for displaying non-Wikipedian encyclopedias, and;
- Normal is for displaying Wikipedia in the corresponding language.
A typical example is the English Section and other sections. I'm reformatting the Arabic section to cope with the rest of the page. Thanks Naeem2017 (talk) 13:14, 24 December 2017 (UTC)
