Ptolemy's geocentric orbits for the planets as a blunder
editPtolemy described the motion of the Sun and Moon as sinusoidal deviations from uniform circular motion. This is a good first approximation. The mistake he made was to over generalize and do the same for the planets. He was interpreting observations perhaps like one would interpret signs in the heavens. He may have been conditioned to project ideas onto reality. Or maybe he made the simplest assumption as one would by applying Occam's razor. He may also have just repeated the mistakes of his predecessors. Jbergquist (talk) 21:30, 24 April 2020 (UTC)
