Mahanji/Wamahanji

edit

The Mahanji are an ethnic and linguistic group based in the Kipagalo and Bulongwa Sub Urban in Makete District of Njombe Region in southern Tanzania. In 2012, the Mahanji population was estimated to number 10,000.

The Mahanji are often considered to be a sub-group of the Kinga, but the languages have significant differences that support their claim to be a separate ethnic group.
