Highest and lowest temperatures for each capital city
editThere is a problem with these sections. When I initially added them in December 2020, I only added temperatures recorded at each city's primary weather station, i.e. the extreme temperatures listed on each city's wikipedia page. These weather stations were near the central business district of each city. Over the months, extreme temperatures recorded outside each city's primary weather station have been added, making these sections a mess. Including places like Mount Wellington and Penrith is a bit disingenuous in my opinion. I propose reverting these sections back to how they were before. Alternatively, these sections could be removed entirely for being unencyclopedic. Thoughts? Steelkamp (talk) 01:29, 14 January 2022 (UTC)
- Perhaps this information should be noted as a footnote after each capital city noting the coordinates/BOM information for each of the weather stations used (and if it's still in use eg Melbourne's moving from the CBD to Olympic Park). This might lead to an additional data set to include the extreme temperatures for the greater metropolitan areas for a usefully encyclopedic comparison. Look at temps at Onslow Western Australia on the 15 Jan 2022 they where over 50 degrees for three days. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.181.22.26 (talk) 12:21, 29 May 2023 (UTC)

Cloncurry record
editThe Cloncurry record temperature of 53.1 °C (127.6 °F) is not recognised nowadays by the BoM due to problems with the way the temperature was recorded. See https://www.smh.com.au/environment/hottest-temperature-on-earth-revised-20120914-25wji.html for more information. Steelkamp (talk) 14:29, 10 March 2023 (UTC)
- @Signalscadd: You say "As the facts from the link provided speaks for itself. It can not be disputed." That is clearly not true as the Bureau of Meteorology itself disputes it. The link above says "We found documentary evidence for that which showed the measurement was taken in - would you believe - a beer crate nailed to the side of a house," he said. "That would certainly have affected the reading ... which was probably somewhere around 47 degrees." Steelkamp (talk) 14:21, 19 March 2023 (UTC)
Mildura
editThe mention of Mildura in the lede and map doesn't appear to be consistent with the rest of the article, nor the article on Mildura. It also seems to lack citation. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 103.85.36.157 (talk) 01:56, 7 January 2024 (UTC)
- Correct. I have removed mention of Mildura. It seems to be vandalism made by User:Mildyfactcheck. Steelkamp (talk) 03:06, 7 January 2024 (UTC)
- It was not vandalism I was just not able to edit anymore due to lack of knowledge on editing information is in fact true 180.150.37.213 (talk) 23:28, 7 January 2024 (UTC)
Unverified claim of 75°C High Temp
editThere is no source available for this claim and no article could be found to corroborate such a claim. Such a high temp does indicate a likely erroneous temp reading or mistake.
If no source found, it is suggested that it should be removed from the article. 49.182.155.38 (talk) 16:32, 6 August 2024 (UTC)
