Mah bunny

edit

Under Fraudulent rabbit-like creatures it says "Mah bunny in PGP. Needs constant attention to keep her... ears perky. And I love her so." Is this for real? I suspect a spoof... --Hugh2414 10:19, 4 November 2005 (UTC)Reply

Move?

edit

Just a thought, but maybe this should be renamed "fictional rabbits and hares"? If only because a lot of fictional works don't seem to worry about the difference. Daibhid C 11:21, 12 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Beware deletionists

edit

I could see a Wikipedian stumbling across this page and nominating it for deletion. I just want to pre-emptively make a case for it to remain: I was looking for a list of rabbit characters in video games, and lo and behold, Wikipedia has the exact list I needed! ~MDD4696 20:07, 28 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

yes me too very usefull 92.237.137.27 (talk) 23:05, 4 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

There was/is this one computer game rabbit/hare but...

edit

I can't remember who/what is is. There's a demo of the game out there. Basically you run around is a full 3-d environment with anthro characters and you fight bandit rabbits and can do sneak attacks. Still don't remember it? Whatever it is, it belong here, in the computer game section. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.110.232.159 (talk) 01:27, 17 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Nevermind. He's called "Lugaru". Maybe someone should add him... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.110.232.159 (talk) 01:35, 17 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

References

edit

This article desperately needs references. I know that many of the characters are wikilinked to their own pages, which is fine, but what about such as:

  • Bob Marley, a rabbit reggae singer in 'SHOOT THE MOOSE'
  • Bugg's Bunny in Cartoon World
  • Zombunny; a dumb, motionless rabbit featured in the English 1990s TV show Transylvannia Pet Shop
  • Rabbits are occasionally seen in Ziggy, most commonly invading Ziggy's vegetable garden.

None of the above have any references at all, making it impossible to verify authenticity, spellings etc. Loganberry (Talk) 17:12, 24 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Merger proposal

edit

The articles have been merged, although only 2 or 3 items weren't on this list. Ncboy2010 (talk) 22:54, 12 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

Article in need of creation and interpretation.

edit

I thought this is a spectacularly good article. Totally outside of my expertise, and I don't speak German. Do you have any suggestions as to whom I could recruit? Rabbits in the arts, German Wikipedia Thanks. Discospinter says: "I agree that it's a good article to have in English, to expand on Rabbit#In culture and literature and List of fictional hares and rabbits." Please also take a look at Three hares, which I have worked on and which is about as close as we get. Just a thought and a gentle request. I am also posting this at WP:translation. 7&6=thirteen () 16:47, 12 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

Rename

edit

Here is another suggestion. Rename "List of fictional rabbits and hares" to "List of leporids". That way rabbits, hares, jackrabbits and cottontails have a name in a nutshell. Deltasim (talk) 06:47, 28 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

People don't know what leporids are. Jackrabbits and cottontails IMO are rabbits and/or hares. tahc chat 20:51, 28 September 2012 (UTC)Reply
People will know what we tell them to know. InedibleHulk (talk) 10:56, 5 February 2015 (UTC)Reply
I reaffirm this. InedibleHulk (talk) 15:51, 8 February 2022 (UTC)Reply

Cottontail and Grandfather Bunny

edit

As a kid one of my favorite books was Dubose Heyward's The Country Bunny and the Little Gold Shoes just because of how it depicted Cottontail's genius in using her own children to demonstrate why she should be an Easter Bunny and for Grandfather Bunny giving her the golden shoes so she could deliver the Easter Egg to the child on top of the mountain before daylight. I was saddened to see they weren't on the list of literary rabbits and have added them to the list. Anyone who's read Heyward's book should hopefully understand why I chose to add them. -anonymous 3/27/2013 9:30 AM EST — Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.71.217.116 (talk) 13:31, 27 March 2013 (UTC)Reply

Multiplying like lepordays

edit

Thanks Johnbod. Can we change/get these back too? First I've heard about Leopolds or whatever they are. Category:Rabbits and hares in art, Category:Animated films about Leporidae, Category:Fictional Leporidae. Thanks. Randy Kryn (talk) 18:48, 7 February 2022 (UTC)Reply

We should, for sure - I've done 2 articles now. In categories the arguments for consistency may be stronger. There's also Category:Leporidae in popular culture & many sub-cats. Do you want to try a test caset? Ping me if you do. Johnbod (talk) 04:07, 8 February 2022 (UTC)Reply
Thanks Johnbod. Category:Rabbits and hares in art is an obvious one that was very recently boldly changed to the uncommon name and then turned red. I'm not aware of how to move categories. Randy Kryn (talk) 15:09, 8 February 2022 (UTC)Reply

Hartley Hare

edit

Is it jsut me or shouldn't the great Hartley Hare be in this? Surely he was the scruffiest looking puppet ever seen on TV (Pipkins) but I think he deserves a mention. Just a thought. 217.163.101.38 (talk) 08:02, 1 April 2022 (UTC)PhilReply

Video media section clean up

edit

I was looking at the "Video media" section, and it's a bit inconsistent. There are some animated characters in the regular "Film" subsection. Either these should be moved to the "Animation" subsection or maybe the "Animation" subsection should just be merged into the "Film" and "Television" subsections. The Noid is not a rabbit

edit

The Noid is neither rabbit nor hare. He is not a rabbit man, a wererabbit, or a human-rabbit hybrid. He is a disgruntled delivery driver forced to wear a rabbit-eared onesie, his buck teeth likely due to poor dental coverage in his health care insurance. None of his body has fur, he does not have a tail, and if you removed his costume, you'd probably find normal, fleshy humanoid ears. gobonobo + c 23:45, 18 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
