Dear Wiki, may I have permission to edit this because I want to help finish it so every flag can be shown to people who need this info {I am 10} 😊😁 Bye for now, Emilie. 124.169.13.40 (talk) 07:46, 15 August 2017 (UTC)Reply

I have a couple of dis-respectful names for flags. Some unreconstructed South Africans refer to the new flag as "the Y front", which is an interesting description of this shape, which is also used by Vanuatu. The Cypriot flag has been dismissed as "a poached egg with a sprig of parsley". Noel Ellis 09:31, 13 March 2018 (UTC)~~ — Preceding unsigned comment added by Noel Ellis (talkcontribs)

Unverified flags

edit

Hi, the name of the flag of Norway is given as "Dannebrogelva". However, I could not verify this anywhere. Some Norwegians in a reddit said they had never heard this name. It does not appear in any formal or informal sources, not even in Wikipedia in the article about the flag of Norway. I asked a translator of Danish language and he said this information is simply wrong. Could you please tell me where you found this information about the name Dannebrogelva for the flag of Norway? --Aorati Melani (talk) 11:31, 26 November 2018 (UTC)Reply

I agree, and have unlisted it. A nickname and English translation (if relevant) should be found in the linked article, ideally with references. If not, then it's simple to justify unlisting. (There are likely other items in this list that need to be verified / cleaned up.) +mt 20:33, 26 November 2018 (UTC)Reply

Flag of Wales

edit

The Welsh flag appears under ‘y’ for ‘y Ddraig Goch’. However, since ‘y’ simply means ‘the’ in Welsh, it’s equivalent for example to ‘la’ in Spanish names such as the Uruguayan ‘la Celeste’.

Propose to move under ‘d’ for consistency. Rhyswatkin (talk) 17:53, 30 March 2019 (UTC)Reply

For completeness, ‘y Ddraig Goch’ means ‘the red dragon’. Rhyswatkin (talk) 17:54, 30 March 2019 (UTC)Reply

Please make a table

edit

A table can be sorted by country, and the current order is useful only for people who already know the name. Turesable (talk) 00:59, 20 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
