Issues with this table and article

Hello @Roncanada:, first off, thanks for creating this unique article. There are a couple issues to sort out on this page if it is to remain on Wikipedia though. As this page stands, it depends on a single source, the census, and uses people who speak French as a mother tongue to determine Francophone community. In some cases there are communities listed with just 3%, I am not sure this is a metric that validates a community as francophone. Secondly this article currently depends on information gleaned out of the census without support from other third party pages to validate that these communities are Francophone. For example, communities like Niverville and Morris, are not not functionally or socially francophone communities, and this cannot be validated with information from the census and low figures of French speakers. Using this metric, we could also determine which communities in Manitoba/Canada are Filipino communities or Punjabi communities, which probably is not accurate at present.

I would recommend finding other sources to validate francophone communities in Manitoba. This may be a good link for you: [1]

Without other sources to validate these statistics and which communities should be included, I would recommended deleting this page or merging the table into other pages such as Demographics of Manitoba. As it stands this article is violating WP:Original research.

Finally, I do not think you can list rural municipalities under francophone communities. RMs are large geographical areas that cover a variety of communities, aside from a few RMs, these would not qualify as francophone, particularly as you have no sources. Lumping in large RMs instead of the sole francophone communities in that RM is misleading. Rather include the francophone communities in a separate list, population figures may not be available for all of these villages.

Let me know if you have any other questions on this, but this page does need some clean-up and validating if it is going to remain on Wiki. Words in the Wind(talk) 21:36, 19 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
