editThis article mentions that Alexei Nikolaevitch succeeded briefly and only titularly as Emperor Alexei II in 1917, but I don't think this is correct. Nicholas' final document of abdication, however illegal it was to abdicate for his son, was his word, as Emperor. I am going to delete this unless someone has some proof of this. If Alexei ruled as titular emperor, then there is no way that Grand Duke Michael could have done the same. If Nicholas' first abdication paper was accepted as legal, then Alexei would have been Tsar, and Michael would not be listed as being titular emperor. Morhange 01:40, 9 September 2005 (UTC)
Forget such legitimist claptrap. We know that none of them ruled - thus do not presume that we should even say they or one of them ruled. We know that both of them were entitled to succeed, according to divergent events. (And, Nicholas was not pobably a legitimate emperor when having abdicyated by the first document, thus he no longer held any power to determine further succession.) Thus, for both, the same small claim/pretension/titularity is mentioned here, and is good. The fact that their claims both excluded the other's claim is irrelevant for us: we do not endorse either of them, we just explain that both "succeeded only titularly and briefly" or some similar short explanation which clarifies what happened. The fact that many people regarded Alexei as having succeeded is afaik so well known that you should find your proofs somewhere. You will not delete it, if you do not delete same from Michael's. 217.140.193.123 16:28, 17 September 2005 (UTC)
List of Grand Duchesses
editI'd be willing to start working on this page; would the wives of Grand Dukes be listed, or will it just be a list of Russian-born Grand Duchesses? Morhange 03:06, 11 September 2005 (UTC)
I'd start with a list of the Russian-born Grand Duchesses, then expand to the wives of the Grand Dukes. But, that's just my two cents. Trjumpet 19:38, 11 September 2005 (UTC)
Two separate sub-titles to that list page, one under which grand duchesses by birth listed, another under which those by marriage. 217.140.193.123 16:28, 17 September 2005 (UTC)
