Mudvayne?
editI'm removing Mudvayne from the list because... really? Groove metal? — 99.25.89.2 (talk) 08:13, 29 June 2009 (UTC)
- I agree with this person. Mudvayne should be removed from the list. They should be in a alternative metal category. Defineoffensiveusername (talk) 03:22, 22 November 2009 (UTC)
- mudvayne is a groove band, just like infectious grooves is. Inf.h5n1 (talk) 11:54, 6 January 2010 (UTC)
- I re-added Mudvayne, using Phil Freeman review of Throwdown's Deathless ("[Throwdown] shifted from the thick-necked, straight-edge hardcore of their early catalog to a version of the "groove metal" practiced by Pantera, [...] The music, too, has a lot of Mudvayne's combination of groove and progressive epic-ness") as a source. Well groove metal is defined as slowed down thrash metal with death metal/hardcore punk vocals and industrial elements, so i think some of Mudvayne's stuff fits in well in this category, but Obviously i wouldn't call their more radio friendly stuff groove metal. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 27.32.220.148 (talk) 20:44, 11 January 2013 (UTC)
Merely mentioning the word 'groove' in a review doesn't mean the band is 'groove metal', however, and at any rate I agree, Mudvayne are (or were) a textbook example of a nu-metal band. Not groove metal or post thrash at all.JWULTRABLIZZARD (talk) 02:21, 12 January 2013 (UTC)
Threat Signal
editevery metalcore\deathcore bnd has a groove, because the core comes from the groove. but that doesnt makes them a groove metal band. just finifshed listening to 2 threat signal CD's, they are defenetly not a groove band, even though they do have a groove. i think they should be out of this list. Inf.h5n1 (talk) 11:56, 6 January 2010 (UTC)
- It doesn't matter if you think they're not groove metal, it is sourced from Noisecreep ("they bear a strong resemblance to the melodic groove metal [...] from earlier days of Brazil's Sepultura and Soulfly") and Hour Community ("nice blend of thrash and groove metal, Hamilton, Ontario’s Threat Signal, with a little luck, could break big"). Nite-Sirk (talk) 21:38, 14 April 2012 (UTC)
Rage Against the Machine?
editI think that Rage Against The Machine is a groove metal band, listen to "Take The Power Back", "Wind Below", "Bulls On Parade" and multiple others. They do have rap metal, funk metal. I seriously people they are groove metal! panicpack121 12:52, 1 July 2010 (UTC)
- Okay, but do you have a reliable source calling Rage Against the Machine a "groove metal" band? RG (talk) 02:05, 2 July 2010 (UTC)
- Found one. From the Worcester Telegram Gazette: "works of Rage Korn and Incubus" RG (talk) 20:21, 7 July 2010 (UTC)
- It's not relible. Fuck off! — 82.181.146.206 (talk) 15:13, 8 November 2010 (UTC)
- Why is not reliable? Nite-Sirk (talk) 21:38, 14 April 2012 (UTC)

Let's accept it
editLots of bands here shouldn't belong to the list even if each entry has "professional" citation on the genre. 189.122.192.109 (talk) 19:47, 20 August 2010 (UTC)
Five Finger Death Punch
editI've seen them referred to as a groove metal band several times in articles and it states this on their Spotify biography as well. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.57.204.108 (talk) 03:23, 15 August 2012 (UTC)

Bleed From Within is a Metalcore band primarily, with none of their albums having a primarily groove metal sound. They have more of a Melodic Death metal sound than a groove metal sound, and I would note that they aren't on the list of Melodic Death metal bands.

- all of them are sourced --FMSky (talk) 19:36, 23 June 2023 (UTC)
- So? How is Earth Crisis, Biohazard, Entombed, Stuck Mojo, Nonpoint, and all the rest of these groove metal? 2600:6C40:5500:9900:925:CC12:E097:A093 (talk) 19:42, 23 June 2023 (UTC)
- If someone described Lorna Shore or Evanescence or something "groove metal" would they go on this list too? 2600:6C40:5500:9900:925:CC12:E097:A093 (talk) 19:44, 23 June 2023 (UTC)
- If multiple reliable sources do so, then literally yes. Metal Archives is also not considered reliable, per WP:UGC --FMSky (talk) 19:47, 23 June 2023 (UTC)
- This list also doesnt only include bands that are exclusively groove metal but also ones who've had a couple albums in that style -- FMSky (talk) 19:49, 23 June 2023 (UTC)
- Right which is why I kept bands like Sacred Reich and Exodus. But those I got rid of had no albums that were primarily groove metal. There should be some sort of objectiveness we go by when classifying bands by genre. The truth of the matter is that Nonpoint, Stuck Mojo etc. are Nu-metal, and Biohazard, Earth Crisis, etc. are hardcore punk. If the band's Wikipedia articles don't describe them as groove metal, then they shouldn't be on the list. 2600:6C40:5500:9900:925:CC12:E097:A093 (talk) 19:57, 23 June 2023 (UTC)
- Also, describing something as "having groove" doesn't make it groove metal. That's what a lot of these sources do; just describe the music as "groovy". 2600:6C40:5500:9900:925:CC12:E097:A093 (talk) 20:05, 23 June 2023 (UTC)
- What do you think about dividing the article into bands that are primarily groove metal and ones that just have it as one of their secondary genres / are influenced by it`? --FMSky (talk) 21:09, 23 June 2023 (UTC)
- That's actually a really good idea. 2600:6C40:5500:9900:925:CC12:E097:A093 (talk) 04:08, 24 June 2023 (UTC)

Division Into Two Sections
editI have divided the article into two sections; one with artists that are primarily groove metal, and one with artists that play groove metal only as a secondary genre/influence. Let me know of any thoughts/comments/additions/changes. 2600:6C40:5500:9900:90DA:BA28:9DEF:F5AB (talk) 20:27, 26 June 2023 (UTC)
- did you remove some bands in the process though? https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=List_of_groove_metal_bands&diff=prev&oldid=1162067944 cause your post was tagged with "−2,796" and "references removed" --FMSky (talk) 21:01, 26 June 2023 (UTC)
- There were a couple of bands that weren't marked anywhere as groove metal and their references didn't mention groove metal at all, so I removed those.
- Also, Dominus belongs in the secondary category, as their discography is primarily death metal. Only their last 2 albums are primarily groove metal, while their first 4 releases are primarily death metal.
- Volbeat belongs in the primary section in my opinion because only 4 of their 9 albums (including their demo album) aren't primarily groove metal.
- Also, I would say that groove metal is a primary genre of Black Label Society. 2600:6C40:5500:9900:90DA:BA28:9DEF:F5AB (talk) 00:55, 27 June 2023 (UTC)
